As we welcome our new board members, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Valerie Simons, our departing board president.
Uplifting the arts in our city since she first moved to Port Moody, Valerie has not only served on our board since 2012 (the last five as our Board President), but has also been a member of the City of Port Moody’ Public Art Panel and the Blackberry Artists Society.
During her time with us, the Arts Centre has achieved a number of milestones including the successful doubling of our Endowment Fund through the 20 for 20 Campaign, negotiation of a new 5 year operating agreement with the City and the expansion of the Arts Centre. She has also spearheaded the Unity Project (a participatory public art project developed to celebrate Canada’s 150th and recreated for the 2018 Car Free Day), Co-Chaired the Girls Night Out Gala in 2012, the “RESPECT” gala in 2015, Chaired the 2014 POMO Arts Fest, supported the re-enactment of the 1st Council Meeting during Port Moody’s centennial year and much more.
Valerie, on behalf of our incoming Board of Directors, staff, arts faculty, volunteers and patrons, thank you for your dedication, steady leadership and generous spirit. You will be missed!
Welcome our new Board of Directors 2019-2020!
