Hope, Acceptance & Gratitude
 3 Pillars to Live By.....

Hi Beautiful,

I run out onto the well groomed, green hockey pitch and take my position on the field. The whistle blows and I get first touch on the ball...all I hear are thoughts of self-defeat running rampant through my mind...
"Why am I so much slower than everyone else..."
"I've lost it, lost my speed"
" I have to do something great to make up for my mistakes"
"I can never be as good as I was..."

After 7 years being out of the game and only doing yoga as my exercise, I am back playing hockey! I am blessed to be a part of a great Division 1 / Premier League Team, so I have thrown myself right in the deep end, but with me pushing myself so far out of my comfort zone, there has come great resistance and my "default" mean girl Desiree has crept back into my mental chatter. I have been given the opportunity to play for a great team, with the best bunch of girls and most incredible coach anyone could ask for, but my biggest battle....is with myself!

Why am I telling you this?

Because with great challenge and hardship comes the biggest amount of growth and when you take risks and place yourself outside of your comfort zone, the opportunity to learn and elevate yourself to a higher level of consciousness arises.

Now I have only been back for 4 weeks and already I am hard on myself, have expectations of myself and am super critical. Old Desiree has well and truly kicked in! You see....this is my "default" mode. The blessing and silver lining in all of this is that this challenge gives me an opportunity to connect back to my essence, my soul and remind myself of what is truly important and practice what I preach!

When I took that hockey field a few weeks ago, I so easily forgot about how I had come back from being a drug addict and alcoholic! I had so easily forgotten that I was on my death bed just under 7 years ago and bedridden for 8 months. I had forgotten that I could not walk to the bathroom and that the day when I had the energy to vacuum again brought me so much joy! I had forgotten that in my darkest moments when I thought I had nothing left....I had HOPE....hope that a time like this would come, when I could play hockey again, manage a business, be a mum and most importantly return to a normal life and do it all being healthy!

Looking back at my journey to where I am now, fills me with immense GRATITUDE. Gratitude for just being able to run, gratitude for the people that support me, gratitude for my family, gratitude for my legs, gratitude for my health and gratitude for just being able to play....
When I look back and reflect on all I have been through and chose to ACCEPT my body for as it is right now, in this moment of time and accept things for the way they are...I feel free.....

Instantly when I chose gratitude, acceptance and hope, my mindset transforms, my thoughts move from a place of negativity, destruction and self-hatred to a place of pure joy, happiness and freedom....

We cannot control what happens to us or our circumstances sometimes but we can chose to perceive our life in a way that serves us for the better.....a way that sets us free....

So I encourage you to chose hope, chose acceptance and most importantly chose gratitude in all aspects of your life.

If you are in a rough patch and in a dark place....HOPE for what the future can bring, hope things will transform, hope you will heal and things will get better......and they will.

If you are stuck in a negative, self-destructive mindset, use GRATITUDE to transform your thoughts and see your life in a different light....

If you are battling with what could have been, should have been or would have been...STOP and chose to ACCEPT things as they are now and accept yourself unconditionally.

We create the life we want and we are in the drivers seat....perspective is everything!
You have the power to change the way you look at things and as the late, great Dr Wayne Dwyer said..."When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change..."

Lots of love and light,

Desiree xxx

"Desiree is a well-educated, supportive and motivational health coach who I couldn’t recommend highly enough. She's given me tools to sleep better, eat well and most importantly nourish, nurture and love myself every day. I love her approach that what works for one person may not work for another, it's all custom designed to you, with no pressure at any point to make changes you are uncomfortable with. I would recommend Desiree to anyone who feels overwhelmed by modern societies obsessions with weight, health and food and doesn’t know where to start. Those looking for healthy ways to combat health issues, mental, emotional and physical that will last long term..."
