The deadline to run for office in Nashville's Aug. 1 election has passed. Here is a full list of the 111 candidates who have filed to run for mayor and Metro Council.

Candidates can withdraw their names by noon Thursday but no additional candidates can get into the races.

Though there are 10 total candidates vying for the mayoral seat, three major names have emerged to challenge Mayor David Briley: At-large Councilman John Cooper; state Rep. John Ray Clemmons, D-Nashville; and retired Vanderbilt professor Carol Swain.

Three at-large council seats are up for grabs with only two incumbent at-large council members — Bob Mendes and Sharon Hurt — seeking reelection. Former At-large Councilman Jim Shulman won a special election last year to become vice mayor.

At-large Councilwoman Erica Gilmore, who was challenging Shulman in the upcoming election for the vice mayor job, has withdrawn her name.

With Cooper running for mayor, that leaves three open seats.

District council members Burkley Allen, Steve Glover, Fabian Bedne, Sheri Weiner, plus former council members Michael Craddock and Adam Dread, are among the 15 candidates challenging for the five at-large seats.

At-large candidates include other familiar names: Gicola Lane, who led efforts behind Nashville's Community Oversight Board; and former vice mayoral candidate Matt DelRossi, who drew enough support to force a runoff election in last year's special vice mayor's race.

Fifteen district council members are seeking reelection and face opponents. Nine people have a straight shot to council seats, facing no opposition.
