JUNE 2019 MONTHLY UPDATE
In our June 2019 edition you'll find information about Dance Marathon, 2019-2020 CFSL Ambassadors, the Fraternity/Sorority Community Advisory Board, preliminary information about the Fraternity/Sorority Presidents' Leadership Summit, and council updates from across our community!
The student leadership experience, Miracle Network Dance Marathon is coming to the University of Houston!

UH students will have the opportunity to gain leadership, teamwork, and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for the Texas Children’s Hospital. If you’re interested in getting involved and learning more, please email Erin Ciceri at eeciceri@central.uh.edu. Applications to join the student executive board of UH’s Dance Marathon organization will open up in fall 2019.
APPLY FOR THE INAUGURAL FSCAB!
Applications are now being accepted for student members for the inaugural Fraternity/Sorority Community Advisory Board. FSCAB will be a diverse group of UH fraternity/sorority alumni, students, faculty, and staff who will serve in an advisory role to CFSL and the FSL community. WELCOME TERRANCE!
CFSL is proud to welcome Terrance Akins to our team as the new Graduate Assistant for Fraternity & Sorority Life! Terrance is originally from Dallas and completed his undergraduate work at Texas A&M University-Commerce majoring in Global Educational Learning. At TAMU-C Terrance was actively involved in the African American Male Mentorship Program (AAMMP) where he served as a Lead Mentor. He also served as a Lead Lion Ambassador for the Lion Ambassador Team from 2018-2019. Terrance is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and served as the chapter president for the Eta Phi chapter at TAMU-C.
 
Terrance officially joins the CFSL team the week of June 17th. Please stop by CFSL (or contact him by email at tjakins@uh.edu) and welcome him to the UH Greek Community!

Be on the lookout for an email coming from the CFSL Ambassadors about this year’s GREEK-A-PALOOZA!

The Fraternity/Sorority Presidents' Leadership Summit (FSPLS) is an overnight experience for fraternity/sorority chapter presidents and council leaders to go off site and get the experience to develop their leadership skills before the start of each academic year. During the FSPLS, Greek leaders get the chance to meet fellow leaders from different councils and organizations and share best practices with each other.
 
This is the event that kick starts the academic year and is a requirement for chapter and council presidents. All lodging and meals for the summit are covered by Student Service Fees at no cost to the participant. Make sure you are free starting at 9:00 AM on Friday, August 9th until 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 10th. You can register here by July 19th by 11:45pm.

Multicultural Greek Council

The Multicultural Greek Council is looking for interested leaders to fill the following vacant MGC E-Board positions:

Historian

Interested members of MGC groups can contact Roberto Ramirez, MGC President, at rramirez36@uh.edu. Eligible MGC Executive Board members must have a 2.50 or greater cumulative GPA. 
Interfraternity Council

Recruitment has begun for the Interfraternity Council at the University of Houston. We are excited for all the potential new members that are looking for to join the community. Any interested potential new member may register at uhifc.mycampusdirector2.com. We look forward to connecting with new students at this summer’s Cougar Carnivals at New Student Orientation!
United Greek Council

UGC member organizations have been participating in Cougar Carnival welcoming all the new Cougars and their families to campus encouraging them to join a fraternity or sorority. The UGC officers have been planning the fall semester with some exciting events. The annual UGC Celebration will be on September 12th, so come join in on the celebration! Be on the lookout for more exciting events this fall from UGC. If you have questions about UGC please email uh.ugc.president@gmail.com.  
Houston Panhellenic Council


It is HPC Recruitment time! Early bird registration for potential new members is $65 from May 1st – June 30th. The first price increase to $80 for regular registration occurs on July 1st. The last day to register is August 30th. The formal recruitment process is scheduled for September 5th -8th.  HPC is excited to host a Sorority Woman’s Summit on November 8th open to sorority members from all councils. Be on the lookout for more details about the Summit.
