Five Promises

Holy Cow! Consulting, which administered our Congregational Assessment Tool (CAT), has worked with over 2,500 congregations.  On the strength of this collected data Holy Cow! has identified five promises that congregations want their church community to make and keep:

Roughly 90% of what people want in their churches can be attributed to their ability to make and keep these five promises.

1. We will create a church where worship experiences are exceptional in their ability to inspire, engage and enrich our spiritual lives.

2. We will create a church experience where involvement is good for the soul instead of leading to disillusionment or disappointment.

3. We will create a church experience where every person understands the significance of his or her life in the universe and is supported in fulfilling the purpose for which they were born.

4. We will create a church experience where people live in peace with one another by resolving conflict in ways that are respectful and restorative.

5. We will create a church where persons experience leaders who listen deeply with open hearts and make courageous decisions with good intentions.

Gandhi: "Become the change you want to see in the world."

Save the date!
5th Sunday Combined Service and Community Meal!

On Sunday, June 30 (the fifth Sunday of the month) we will be having a combined 9:00 AM service followed by a community meal in Becket Hall. Please plan to attend both! Additional information about the meal and presentations/conversations during the meal will follow in the next week or two.

Chaos in our lives can be helpful:  https://gratefulness.org/blog/12-reasons-embrace-chaos-move-forward-life/

A fierce conversation definedone in which we come out from behind ourselves into the conversation and make it real. I will be known. I will be seen.  I will be changed.

From the Interim Rector's sermon this past Sunday:
"Theology is what we think we know about God that tells us about being human, and spirituality is what we think we know about human beings that tells us about God.  Healthy religion is a good balance between the two.  - The Rev. Brian Hastings, Church of our Saviour, Chicago

Around the Episcopal Communion

The Philadelphia Eleven
A documentary film about the women who defied the leadership of the Episcopal church in 1974, and became the first women priests. This documentary seeks to tell their story. Tentatively titled, "The Philadelphia Eleven," the film tells how the women hit a chord in a deeply divided world  about who speaks the word of God. They set an example for how we can follow our calls in the midst of adversity.
The film is on Kickstarter until June 20th. To support the production, click here.
