Today was a special day for family, friends and the CDS community to celebrate the Class of 2019 and all that these students have achieved. After a heartfelt commencement ceremony at the historic St. John's Lutheran Church, guests assembled across the street in the CDS gym for a delicious luncheon. Be sure to look for student accolades and photos of our graduates in the fall edition of The Gateway magazine. Congratulations, Class of 2019!

The final assembly at Charleston Day School is a wonderful end of the year tradition in which we recognize the academic achievements of our students. Yesterday, we assembled one final time and cheered our fellow Scorpions as they received awards for excellence in so many areas, several on a state or national level. Kudos to all for developing persistence and a strong work ethic. Go, Scorpions!

As a beloved CDS tradition that dates back decades and began on the gym walls, the eighth grade revealed its class mural at this week's final assembly. Beginning in the second semester, eighth graders in art class collaborated on the "faceless" mural, several students painting the large canvas at a time, until the work was complete. Every student was involved--no small task for such a large class! Their creative contribution will be left as a legacy at the school for all to enjoy for years to come. Well done!
