Former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Anthony Nutter highlights the impact that city Corps programs and nature have on local youth. Mayor Introduces Baltimore’s Children Outdoor Bill of Rights. Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young took an important step in giving city kids access to the many benefits of nature: he signed the Baltimore Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights. The bill emphasizes kids’ right to play, learn and grow with nature. It is a first step in Baltimore’s larger efforts as a CCCN 2018 cohort city. Watch TV coverage and read partner promotion.

San Francisco Children & Nature: Increasing Access to the World’s Oldest Miracle Drug. For years, San Francisco has been part of the global movement to equitably connect kids to nature; the city is one of seven pilot CCCN cities. A recent op ed highlights the city’s progress as San Francisco Children and Nature Network staff and partners joined the 2019 Children and Nature International Conference.
Atlanta Creates First Food Forest in Georgia & Largest in the Country. Atlanta’s City Council unanimously approved the transformation of a vacant property into a food forest, the first in Georgia and the largest in the US. A CCCN 2018 cohort city, Atlanta hopes to use the food forest to connect city children - and residents - to green space, walking trails, gardens and free fresh produce.
