Summer is nearly here - we hope!!
Here are a few ideas...
- Southend Carers are a referral partner for Carefree - helping carers to get a break
The idea of going away for a few days may seem like an impossibility but with a bit of planning it may not be quite as difficult as you imagine...
The Southend Advantage Card offers reduced rates for a range of venues across Southend and is free for local carers in receipt of a Carers Allowance. To find out more click on the link or call us on 01702 215 011.
Enjoy the great outdoors - tips for summer
- Remember the sunscreen, fun in the sun is great…until it isn’t. Listen to your body and look out for signs of overheating or too much sun exposure. Headaches, muscle aches, and fatigue are all signs that it’s time to take a break, drink some water, and rest in the cool shade
- Drink plenty of water
- Choose your timing - when the sun is at its peak, and avoid direct sun exposure when possible and know your limit – enough is enough!!! You don’t want to turn into a lobster!!!
- Look out for those at risk – The elderly, children and infants are more susceptible to heat-related illnesses
- Southend sea front has sun shelters to get in the shade

What's on in Southend this June...
|
|
|
The Southend Carers Hub is a partnership of specialist local charities who have joined together to create a one-stop-shop for carers.
Commissioned by Adult Social Care (Southend Borough Council), we believe that by working together, we can make it much easier for Carers in Southend-on-Sea to access the right practical, financial and emotional support.
