Talk About the Weather
AAFC crowdsources info on weather impacts on Canadian Farms.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada is asking Canadian producers how weather and climate are affecting their farm operations. The information helps ground-truth data and monitor areas of concern. You can help:
If so, there's still time to take our survey on how you use BMPs on your farm. Information gathered from our survey will be used for our BOSS for Farms project to build a tool that will help farmers determine the best combination of BMPs for their fields.
In the past, the farming community has taken issue with the way their businesses have been affected by Conservation Authority (CA) staff decisions. They have questioned the way that individual CAs across the province have variously interpreted their responsibilities and how this interpretation may have negatively affected farmers’ homes, their land and their businesses.
CFFO is pleased that CA responsibilities are under review by the government. For example, two recent Environmental Registry of Ontario postings regarding the Conservation Authority Act (ERO 013-5018 and ERO 013-4992) are currently under Committee review.
How CAs affect farmers has been an ongoing topic for CFFO in our discussions with government, and there is no doubt we will continue to engage with government on CA issues that concern members.
Please take the time to send on your concerns so we can better develop robust appeals to government for changes to CA governance.
