Spring 2019
Welcome to Our Newest Team Member!

Anh Le joined the University of Washington (UW) Center for Health Workforce Studies (CHWS) as a new full-time program manager supporting our two grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Anh is a UW alum of the School of Public Health as well as the Evans School of Public Policy.

Recent Publications and Presentations

UW CHWS had a successful showing at the Annual Health Workforce Conference of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) in Alexandria, VA (May 1-3, 2019). If you missed it, you can download our presentations here.

Through our HRSA-funded Health Workforce Research Center on Allied Health, UW CHWS conducted a survey (by mail and email) of Washington State’s certified medical assistants. The results were published in Medical Care Research and Review and among the key findings were that while generally satisfied, 56.2% of Washington State's certified medical assistants (MA-Cs) reported they would seek training or employment in another healthcare occupation within five years, with higher percentages among MA-Cs who felt overwhelmed by their workload and/or not satisfied with promotion opportunities. More details, including by sub-state region, are presented in our full report available here.

With funding from the Washington Center for Nursing, UW CHWS conducted a survey of registered nurses (RNs) in the state. Overall, more than 63% of surveyed nurses have baccalaureate or higher nursing degrees and of these RNs, about half completed that degree program at an institution in Washington state. Download the full report here.
