Linen Love!
(and a Free Pattern!)
Is there any better fiber for summer than linen? Nothing else combines that cools crispness with wonderful drape. And can we talk about how linen gets softer and softer and nicer and nicer as you wear and wash it? Some folks feel that linen is hard on the hands while you're knitting it, but I find that the results more than make up for it! Pro Tip: If you normally use metal needles, try using bamboo ones with linen and you may be pleasantly surprised that you have a better time with it.
We've now got not one, but TWO great linen yarns in stock. They're so different from each other that we couldn't resist stocking both. BC Garrn's Lino is a sport weight 100% linen that comes in lots of great colors*. I could just see doing a fun striped sweater with 3 or 4 (or more!) of the colors together.
And we can't forget the Shibui Reed! A bit thinner than the Lino at a fingering weight, most of the colors are a bit more muted, but what a range there is! And if you don't like using linen alone, you can pair it with one of the other dreamy Shibui yarns. Silk Cloud + Linen, anyone?
Need a little nudge to keep knitting as the weather warms up? We think our Summer Top, pictured above, fits the bill perfectly! A quick, easy, breezy, knit that you'll be able to finish before the temperature soars. The pattern is suitable for adventurous beginners. It is a great layering piece. Or make it a bit longer and have a terrific beach coverup. If you purchase enough of either the Lino or Shibui (or another suitable yarn) before June 16th you will get the pattern for free!

Learn to Weave this Summer!
We still have a couple of spaces left in our Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving class that starts NEXT Wednesday!
