8TH GRADE DINNER DANCE FIESTA
Muchisimas gracias to all the volunteers and staff who helped put together a fabulous dinner dance yesterday evening in the gym. It looks like the 8th graders had a blast and word on the street is everyone danced!
8TH GRADE PROMOTION DETAILS
TODAY the 8th grade promotion will be held at the Oakland Technical High School Auditorium from 3 – 5 pm. Doors open at 2:30 pm. Arrival time for 8th graders is 2 pm.
INCOMING 6TH GRADE TRANSITION PACKET
For families entering 6th grade in August, please take time over the summer to look through this packet. It will give you information about attendance, policies, discipline, and fill in information of how our school day and year is organized! Community Events
ENROLL IN OAKLAND TECH ROWING SUMMER CAMPS
East Bay Rowing Club, sponsor for Oakland Tech Rowing, is offering five week-long summer youth rowing camps for students entering grades 8-12 from all Bay Area schools.

Novice rowers will learn basic rowing skills and progress to rowing in racing shells on the Oakland Estuary.
-
Experienced rowers will enhance skills, build fitness, and learn training and racing strategies.
-
All rowers will learn good sportsmanship, leadership skills, team building, and how to challenge themselves.
Camps begin June 10 and run through August 2. They are held at the Jack London Aquatic Center in Oakland.

AFFORDABLE SUMMER GLOBAL DANCE AND MUSIC CAMP
Are you age 7 – 12, need a camp and love to dance? If so, look no further than this amazing and cost-friendly program running from June 10 – 29. Space limited to 50 campers, so don't wait!
TOWN HALL MEETING: DEVELOPING QUALITY SCHOOLS
Please join District 1 School Board Director Jody London and District 1 City Council Member Dan Kalb for a Town Hall meeting to examine: how do we develop higher quality schools with excellent support for historically underserved groups of students, and programs that are attractive to families?

ROCKRIDGE LIBRARY SUMMER EVENTS FOR TEENS
Sign up for 2019 Summer Reading starting May 24th! If you’re between the ages of 12-19, visit your neighborhood branch of the Oakland Public library or go online. You’ll receive a free TeenZone notebook for registering! Collect stamps to get a free TeenZone backpack, raffle tickets, and more.
TEEN VOLUNTEERS: People ages 11 to 16 are invited to volunteer at the library this summer to help with the Summer Reading Program and other routine library tasks. Please email Erica or stop by the Children’s Reference Desk at Rockridge to sign up for an Orientation.
Recurring Teen Programs:
Rockridge Teen Advisory Board: Help advise the library how to better serve teens and receive community service credit for school! 1 - 2 pm, Second Saturday each month.
Teen 'Scape Program: Join other teens for playing video games and making craft, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 3:30 - 5 pm; Wednesday 1:30 - 5 pm during school days.
Peer Circle, A Healing Space for Youth: Join us for a series of youth-led restorative justice (RJ) circles and share your voice on topics like relationships, racism, social justice, and more! This safe space will provide young people an opportunity to engage in community building and to learn skills to become RJ leaders in their community, ages 11 and up (Gift cards available for participation), Second Wednesday, 4 – 5 pm.
