Maggie's List Proudly Endorses
Dr. Joan Perry for North Carolina's 3rd
Congressional District

Washington, D.C. — Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing fiscally conservative women to federal office and statewide executive office, is proud to announce the endorsement of Dr. Joan Perry for North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District.

As the mom of five boys and a practicing pediatrician, Dr. Joan Perry has never run for office until now. Instead, Dr. Joan Perry has dedicated her life to serving and improving the lives of those in her community. She has helped address issues impacting her community ranging from education and literacy to nutritional and physical well-being.

Dr. Perry worked on the UNC Board of Governors, Governor Pat McCrory’s Health and Human Services transition team, and was appointed to the North Carolina Day Care Commission by Governor Jim Martin. Dr. Perry is no stranger to tackling issues that impact the citizens of the Tarheel State directly.

"The runoff in the 3rd Congressional District of North Carolina is going to be hard fought, and the Maggie's List endorsement will be a huge factor in this race. Congress needs more conservative Republican women like Dr. Joan Perry,” state’s Maggie’s List North Carolina State Chair, Martha Jenkins. “Dr. Perry embodies the Maggie’s List values of strong national security, fiscal conservatism, more personal responsibility and less government.”

Joan is involved in multiple local community groups. She is very active in her church; she has taught Bible studies, participated in women’s ministries and has served as a marriage mentor for young couples. Out of all of Joan’s accomplishments, she is most proud of being a mother to five boys.

“We need conservative women in Congress to stand up for limited government, particularly now that our ideas are under assault by an extreme agenda that would destroy our economy, drastically increase the power of the federal government, and threaten the freedoms that made our country into the envy of the world,” states Maggie’s List endorsed candidate, Dr. Joan Perry. “I’m honored to stand with Maggie’s List to defeat those ideas, so the next generation of Americans can flourish in a free market that rewards ingenuity and hard work."

Congressman Buddy Carter (GA-01)

As a pharmacist for more than 30 years and the owner of Carter’s Pharmacy, Inc. in Southeast Georgia, Buddy has earned the trust of thousands of south Georgians with their most valuable assets: their health, lives and families. While running his business, he learned how to balance a budget and create jobs. He also saw firsthand the devastating impacts of Obamacare and government overregulation.

A committed public servant, Buddy previously served as the Mayor of Pooler, Georgia and in the Georgia General Assembly where he used his business experience to make government more efficient and responsive to the people. Buddy is serving his second term in the United States House of Representatives and is a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. As the only pharmacist serving in Congress, Buddy is the co-chair of the Community Pharmacy Caucus and is dedicated to working towards a health care system that provides more choices, less costs and better services.

Buddy was born and raised in Port Wentworth, GA and is a lifelong resident of the First District. He is a proud graduate of Young Harris College and the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy. Congressman Barry Loudermilk (GA-11)

In the short time Barry has been serving in Congress, he has been recognized as one of the most effective new members of Congress, working to change the culture in Washington D.C.

Within weeks of taking office, Barry was appointed to a special task force to combat terrorism and foreign fighter travel through the House Homeland Security Committee. Through his tireless work, the task force uncovered numerous areas of vulnerability in our fight against radical Islamist terrorism. Immediately, Barry and the other members of the task force began addressing these problems, which included closing loopholes in the State Department’s Visa Waiver Program, being exploited by foreign fighters trying to enter the U.S. Within months, Congress and the President acted on this and other recommendations, and these reforms are now law.

With a background in information technology and his experience in military intelligence, Barry has quickly become a leader in cybersecurity policy. As a member of the Financial Services Committee, Barry is working with both the technology and financial service sector to ensure our personal data is better protected. Through his work on the Science, Space and Technology Committee, Barry has led investigations into data breaches within the federal government and cyber-attacks by foreign governments.

As a member of the Committee on House Administration, Barry helped usher through legislation to provide harsher penalties for sexual harassment and to end the payment of settlements with taxpayer dollars.

Because of his experience and background, Barry has been appointed to four House committees; Financial Services, Science Space and Technology, Select Committee on House Administration and the Joint Committee on the Library of Congress. Barry has also served on the Homeland Security Committee, and has recently been tapped by the White House to advise the Administration on broadband infrastructure.
