New Terrain Permit

The diverse terrain we obtained with our new USFS permit was everything that we imagined. It allowed us to access terrain close to our base here in Cordova and gave our loyal and returning guests new opportunities for runs that have long been looked at from afar. The crowd favorite was the Sphinx, but even if you didn’t get a chance to tame this beast, you knew that it was officially on the list of possible objectives. We look forward to more exploration and expansion in our permit zone but will always cherish the Chugach classics we have all known and loved for so long.

The energy, camaraderie and humbleness of Cody Townsend and his The Fifty project crew is truly remarkable. Townsend, along with Ming Poon (photographer/most fired up person on the planet aside from Miles D), Bjarne Salen (videographer/one of the best cinematographers we’ve worked with) and amazing PNH guides Brennan Lagasse and Jeff Dostie rallied up two insane lines – the Sphinx and Pontoon Peak. Townsend’s project is certainly inspiring, and you can follow along here. Difficult conditions at the summit of these lines told the story that you really need to see.

When Everything Lines Up

All our guests have different goals, dynamics and feelings about what they want out of their Points North Alaskan heli-adventure. This season, all of our guests were able to check something unique off their to-do list. Of special note is PNH guide Aaron Dahill and his group (also known as the “Land and Slay crew”). They had two weeks lined up, the snow and weather delivered the ideal scenario and allowed this crew to get after it. They rode Pontoon Peak, the Sphinx, and The Tusk in a 3-day period (not to mention countless other true classics within our tenure). Congrats to their team who worked hard and studied the lines for countless hours. Three of the big five were ticked off that week. Let it be known that doesn't happen very often.

No matter what your Alaska heli-ski goals and objectives are, Points North is ready to help you take them on. We truly have something for everyone!
