A group of young innovators based in Norwich Research Park have made the final of the 2019 BBSRC Innovator of the Year Awards.Their project, initially prototyped through the Biomaker Challenge, has made speed breeding more accessible to the research community.

Call for papers! The rise of DIY Laboratories: Implication for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Policy

This special issue aims to extend our understanding of the opportunities and limits of DiY laboratories, and their implications for STI policy. We invite rigorous contributions, including conceptual and theoretical papers, state-of-the-art reviews, empirical research-quantitative and qualitative, and case studies contributions that advances research on DIY laboratories from a multidisciplinary perspective.

This summer's Cambridge-Norwich Biomaker Challenge will support 27 diverse, open science projects

We're very excited to announce the project list for this year's Biomaker Challenge. The participants span 20 University of Cambridge departments, several Norwich institutes, and include industry professionals and international collaborators from Germany, Chile, Argentina, Kenya and beyond.

The Biomaker meetups are open to all and will be a great opportunity to connect with the open technology community and learn new skills. The first training event will be an introduction to the Biomaker starter kit focusing on programming the arduino micro controller using the XOD visual programming interface.
