Upcoming Events

Bob Sinclair & The Big Deals  | July 25th
IAC Concert Series

The Big Deals are kind of like Country or Jazz or Swing but not really. Their unique sound is what happens when friendship, southern storytelling, musical talent and string quartet sensibilities combine.  Bob Sinclair & The Big Deals will be the fifth show in the IAC Concert Series on July 25th.
Bob Sinclair first became noticed when he was selected as Merlefest Emerging Artist and three-time award winner of the NC Grassroots Artists award for songwriting and performance.  Sinclairs songs are so well put together that they seem not to have been put together at all- as if they’ve always been there.

New! 2019 Program Announced

THE WORLD OF CARL SANDBURG | A Solo Performance by Roger Fristoe
Coming October 19th

Roger Fristoe, an actor from Louisville, Ky., performs a one-man version of “The World of Carl Sandburg” at the IAC on October 19th.  The program centers around the great American poet/historian/biographer Carl Sandburg (1878-1967) who became the most-known and best-loved American literary figure of his time.  H. L. Mencken called him “indubitably an American in every pulse-beat.”  Sandburg won three Pulitzer prizes, two for his poetry and another for his momentous biography of Abraham Lincoln.

“The World of Carl Sandburg” was originally performed by Bette Davis and Gary Merrill in 1960, on Broadway and in a national tour.  The show was later televised on PBS with Uta Hagen and Fritz Weaver.  A New York Times reviewer called the show “playful and serious, childlike and wise, commonplace and fresh, homespun and poetic and distinctly American…”

Watch the exclusive clip of Roger Fristoe as he chats with us about his play "The World of Carl Sandburg" and his passion for the performing arts.
