2019 Summer Lunch Program
Hunger Does Not Take a Vacation!
Low-income children normally receive free or subsidized breakfasts and lunches during the school year. When school lets out for the summer, families often find that they have a hard time keeping food on the table for their active, growing children.
FISH is committed to trying to fill the gap by offering extra bags of food for families with school aged children during the months of July and August.
In 2017, School Lunches were distributed to:
July - 223 FAMILIES, 463 CHILDREN
August - 494 FAMILIES, 1,007 CHILDREN
Please partner with us by donating food items or funds to this program. Food donations are being accepted now and throughout July and August.
Financial donations will enable us to purchase cheese and other perishable items like apples and bananas for the bags.
Bulk food donations are great and we would especially appreciate donations of the following:
Bottled Juice or juice box packs
Peanut Butter and Jelly
Macaroni and Cheese
Soups and Stews
Canned Tuna or Chicken
Saltine-type Crackers
Fruit packs
Applesauce Packs
Cheese/Peanut butter Cracker packs
Granola and Snack Bars
Kid's Snacks
Ramen noodles
Cereal
Canned pasta
Mayonaise
***Bags of hardy fruit like apples or oranges can be donated in July and August when the bags will be distributed.***
FOOD DONATIONS FOR THIS PROGRAM ARE MOST HELPFUL IF DELIVERED BY JUNE 21, 2019.
Our hours for donation drop-offs are:
Monday and Wednesday 3-5 pm
Thursday evening 6-8 pm
Friday and Saturday 9-11 am
