Wrapping up Bike Month with recent updates and some exciting announcements!
How did you celebrate National Bike Month? Whether you joined us for Biki Movie Night, stopped by an energizer station for a snack, or Biki'd to lunch with your coworkers, we want to thank you for making this the best Bike Month yet! In addition to all the fun, there were significant milestones achieved in the bicycling community....
  • 2,000,000 Biki Trips - a new milestone was achieved on Thursday, May 23 at 6:30pm. It took riders 415 days to reach one million and only 279 more days to reach the second million! The majority of these rides were taken by residents.
  • Pensacola Street Protected Bike Lane - the final project design has been put out to bid and construction is expected to begin this year! The 2-way bike lane will be constructed on the Diamond Head side of Pensacola, spanning all the way from Wilder Street to Kapiolani Boulevard. A protected bike lane along Ward Avenue will be going out to bid next! Learn more about these exciting projects.
  • Vision Zero Initiative - HB757 is awaiting the Governor's signature to become law. Support the goal of safer streets and zero traffic fatalities by submitting a comment on the legislation ("I support Vision Zero. Please sign HB757 into law." is plenty).

FEATURED MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Name & Membership: Dabney, $15 Monthly - unlimited 30 minute rides

Best Biki Tip: Use Biki in neighborhoods with limited parking. I just went to an event in Kakaako where everyone else ended up paying to valet their personal cars because there was no street parking. I Biki'ed and docked right out front like a champ.

"I love how Biki has led to so many more people cycling in Honolulu, because that helps justify more bike lanes in more places. Biki makes cycling better even for those riding their own bikes. I love seeing and saying hello to people I ride past on my commute every day - try that in a car!"
