HOPE MIDWEEK UPDATE                                          MAY 29, 2019

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

"What then are we to say? Should we continue in sin in order that grace may abound? By no Means!" (Romans 6:1-2)

We know that we are saved by grace and grace alone. If grace can only be present because of our sin, then why not sin? Paul lets us know, rather firmly, that this is absolutely absurd. Grace is a gift, and it is that gift that calls us to live a new life. A life of love and compassion that our savior Jesus Christ lived and taught. We have died to sin in the death of Christ, and we are made anew by his glorious resurrection. This new life doesn't have the room or time for sin. Let us live this new life of love and compassion for our God.

In Peace,
Vicar Lou
SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE

Early Service - 8:15am
Late Service - 10:00am

This Sunday, June 2nd, we will be honoring our high school graduates at both service. If you are a high school graduate, we invite you to participate in one, or both, of our services. We will share a blessing with you as you finish one stage of life and begin the next.
YOUTH MISSION TRIP SPONSORSHIPS

We are currently looking for people to sponsor the 17 youths who will be attending our mission trip to Garnett, KS this summer.  From June 21-July 3, we will be attending Group Mission Trips in Kansas and will be working on home repair projects.

We are looking for people to sponsor each of our students for each day of the week that we are there.  Sponsors commit to covering a youth for one day of their mission experience.  Sponsors are asked to donate $50, which helps cover the remaining costs of our trip. Likewise, sponsors are asked to pray for their assigned youth by name on their assigned day and to write them a personalized letter that they will read on the assigned day. Our youth commit to pray for their sponsors and to send a special note from our time on the road.

Sponsorship packets will be available after church services for the next several weeks.  Please consider joining us in this important fundraiser!

If you would like to sponsor one of our youth, please contact Paul Goodman.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2019

All children ages 4-11 (incoming 5th graders) are invited to join us for an unforgettable week of Vacation Bible School.  On June 10-14, children are invited to join us from 9 a.m. to noon for games, music, crafts, Bible stories and much more.

Registration is currently open and can be found at
www.hopebozemanff.com.  This year our theme is "ROAR: Life is wild, God is good!"  Each day we will explore a different Bible story and meet a new wild animal.

This is a collaboration between Hope Lutheran and Holy Rosary Catholic Parish and will take place every day at Hope Lutheran Church.  We hope to see you there!
Godspell Performance in June

All are invited and encouraged to join us for a free performance of Godspell on Friday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Godspell is a play that was first performed in 1971 and has been performed across the globe. It tells the gospel story through songs that have become iconic over the years.

We are excited to be hosting New Wine Ministry from Cloquet, MN for this performance.
"New Wine" is made up of 50 or so youth and young adults who'll be touring cities in Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota.  We are delighted that they have chosen Hope Lutheran as a performance space and are excited to welcome them.

Please make plans to join us for this family-friendly evening. There is no ticket cost, but a free will offering will be taken to help support the program.
MISSION RESOURCE TEAM UPDATE!

The Hope Lutheran Mission Resource Team (MRT) is committed to keeping the congregation informed on stewardship issues and how we help our Hope community provide the resources necessary to accomplish the ministries of Hope Lutheran church, the wider church and in our local community.

With the annual meeting quickly approaching, we strongly encourage you to look at this month's letter. Our Mission Resource Team has put a great deal of effort into evaluating our giving and the needs of the congregation.

"We as a congregation will be challenged over the next year as to how to move into the future boldly, given our situation."

Periodically we will post the link to our site so that you can access it with just one click.  You will always be able to find the page by accessing Hope’s web site www.hopebozeman.com

Our May letter is now on our web page and can be accessed by following this link to the May 2019 Update.

Sincerely,
The MRTeam

This is a great opportunity to invite your neighbors and join us at each of the locations. The meat and drinks will be provided. If you are willing, we would love for you to bring a dish that we could share. These are community cookouts and we invite everyone to come join us in this fellowship.

Summer Picnic Schedule
  • June 12th - Bozeman Pond
  • July 10th - East Gallatin Recreation Area
  • August 14th - Hyalite Reservoir
More details will be provided as we get closer to each of these dates. Thank you and I hope to see you all there.

Thank you to everyone who attended the annual meeting this past Sunday. As we go forward as a Christian community, it is important that we are continually reflecting on our mission and call.

In case you missed the meeting but would like to look at the information, here is a link to the Annual Meeting Packet. This contains the detailed agenda, reports from the programming staff, and proposed ministry budget for 2019-20.

We will post the minutes in the near future, and the final annual report will be completed and submitted to the synod in early July.

The bishop election is held during the annual synod assembly, which this year is May 31-June 2, in Great Falls, MT.
