Greetings Monument Bible Church Family!

For as long as I can remember my dad has excelled at growing things. He possesses what everyone calls a “green thumb.” In just a few days, Dana and I will be visiting my dad in Ovilla, Texas. During our visit I’ll be able to see his garden, but more importantly I’ll be able enjoy some of the fresh produce from his garden, since he’ll already have tomatoes and cucumbers on the vine that have grown through the Texas rains and heat. When I think of summer, I think of growth. We’ve had an unseasonably cold and wet spring but eventually the farmers will get all their crops planted and we’ll see the abundant growth that takes place through the summer. During the summer I love to mow the grass that grows each week. During the summer many kids hit a “growth spurt” and the wiry middle-school boy will return to school in the fall with the physique of a young man. Summer is indeed a season of growth.

I’m praying that this will certainly be true of us as a church family. I love how God has grown us in the past year and look forward to our ongoing growth in the days ahead. I love this call for growth in the NT - “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18) – this is my summer prayer for us as a church family. We are a growing body, but the primary focus and pursuit is spiritual growth in Jesus, not simply numerical growth in the pews. May our lives be marked by daily growth in the grace and knowledge of Jesus, it takes time, but as we abide in Jesus we will bear much fruit (John 15).

I hope you will take advantage of all the ways you can grow with others this summer. You’ll find a variety of ways to connect and grow in this newsletter—maybe it’s attending an ABF class for the first time, serving at our summer Vacation Bible School, connecting with guys out on a golf course, meeting someone new during Sunday worship, or enjoying laughter and fun at our outdoor movie night. I look forward to sharing stories of how we have grown together as we strive to fulfill our mission of developing dedicated followers of Jesus who worship, grow, love, and share all for the glory of God. I love you – Serve Him well!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

We have an exciting Vacation Bible School in the works for K-6th Graders! They will learn the jaw-dropping story of the Apostle Paul…straight from Paul himself! IGNITE Youth Lock-In!
Tuesday, June 4th
9:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

7th-12th Graders, it's going to be a crazy and fun overnighter that you won't want to miss! Food contest, team competitions, movie party, games like "ultimate spoons," team building, cooking breakfast together, and more! Plus, worship and a summer challenge! Monument is hosting three Sunday 9-Hole Golf Scambles this summer. The scramble format makes it enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels, so even if you aren't Tiger, don't hesitate to join us! More JUNE Happenings!

Church Work Day, Saturday, June 1st, 8:00-Noon - We will have a variety of “inside” and “outside” projects to complete. Come be a part of this opportunity to work together as a church family, as we strive to enhance the beauty and effectiveness of our grounds and facility. We look forward to seeing you Saturday!!

Friday Morning Men's Study, 6:00 a.m. Men, come dig into God's Word every Friday morning in the library. We are currently studying 2 Corinthians and would love to have you join us. For more information contact Pastor Jake at 308-641-8244.

Prayer Gathering, Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. - Every Tuesday we meet at the church to pray for our church family, our community and any special prayer requests. All are welcome to attend!

Love in Action, Wednesday, June 12th, 12:30-3:00 p.m. - We would love your help serving at this local food pantry at 1032 O St. in Gering. For more information contact Laura Leggott at 308-641-1226.

Volunteer Appreciation Night, Tuesday, July 23rd - Wow! We have an amazing body of believers at Monument who serve faithfully! Whether its greeting on Sunday mornings, teaching kids, deep-cleaning, being on worship team, helping with our youth, watching babies in the nursery, hosting small groups, planning events...the list can go on and on! No matter where you have served over the past 12 months, this night is for you! So, take a night off and enjoy food and fellowship! Time and location will be announced soon!

Fire Pit and Outdoor Movie, Friday Night, August 9th, 7:00-10:15ish, Kevin and Shannon Kaufman Home - Hot Dogs, S'mores, a Movie and More! All are invited to join us for some outdoor fun! Bring a lawn chair and bug spray. We'll start off the night with some food and yard games, then we'll show a movie on the big screen at sunset!

Fall Ministry Kick-off, Sunday, August 25th - Save the date for a church event for the whole family! More details coming next month, but be ready for food, fun and time to connect!
