Welcome The Joint to Main Street!

The Joint is crafted after traditional Jazz Halls that were popular in the heartland of the US during the 1940’s. 
 
During the daytime, the Bistro at The Joint offers hand-crafted gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, original soups and salad, and designer mac & cheese dishes.  Their chef has crafted the menu items for all pallets – ranging from traditional comfort food to vegetarian. 
 
In the evening, The Joint offers a unique blend of seasonal Tapas dishes that feature the best farm to table ingredients. 
 
The Joint features local, regional, and national live Jazz and Blues bands Thursday through Saturday. Follow them on Facebook!
 

Take the Free Soda Cap Connector!

This fun and festive service connects many popular downtown Columbia destinations, including West Columbia, Cayce, the Main Street District, the Vista, Five Points as well as Segra Park, Allen and Benedict Colleges, and the University of South Carolina. Service operates every 30 minutes on three routes, Sunday–Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Thursday–Saturday 9:00 a.m. to Midnight. Best of all, the route is FREE! Look for a Soda Cap type sign to board this service. The Soda Cap Connector Route 3 will operate between Laurel @ Main and Segra Park between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to take passengers between destinations along Main Street for First Thursday on Main.

Toward the end of last year, Experience Columbia SC hosted writer Elizabeth Florio for a weekend. Her visit resulted in an incredible seven-page feature spread in the Spring/ Summer issue of Southbound Magazine, as well as an online article for Atlanta Magazine. Elizabeth had a fantastic time in Columbia and the story mentions a number of Main Street businesses including Hotel Trundle, The Grand, Soda City Market, Lula Drake, The Whig, Columbia Museum of Art, and more.

The SC Phil mixed-strings ensemble performs three 45-minute sets of classical favorites and some pieces possibly new to you. Art Class: Intro to Character Design

Learn the basics of character design in this three-part class, taking inspiration from Shades of Greene: The Art of Sanford Greene. Taught by freelance illustrator Criss Mitchell, who has worked on Marvel comics such as Power Man and Iron Fist as well as card illustrations with Upper Deck. Mitchell currently teaches at Cellar Studio in Columbia.

Who is City Center Partnership and the BID?
In 2001, City Center Partnership was formed to manage the downtown Business Improvement District in the 36-block area bounded by Gervais, Elmwood, Assembly and Marion streets in Columbia, SC. The organization provides public space management, economic development, place management, marketing services, and public advocacy for the Main Street District.
The Board of Directors oversee the organization’s mission — to focus on filling vacancies in commercial properties, retaining existing downtown businesses and recruiting new ones, expanding the downtown residential base, and creating a safe, clean, and friendly downtown environment.
