"Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit": A Pentecost Gathering of the Presbytery of Boston
June 8 from 4-6 PM

Click here to download a flyer that contains all the details about this special event, and please use it to spread the word within your church.

The special offering from our time together will go to supporting the Boston Food Justice Young Adult Volunteer Program. Here is a little about what that means from their Site Coordinator, Sarah Goodloe:

"Having experienced our own form of death and resurrection this year, receiving the Pentecost offering to help grow our BFJYAV ministry seems quite apt. We’ve had a season without volunteers, which threatens the sustainability of any YAV site. This spring, though, we’ve seen signs of life through an abundance of YAV applicants, uncanny opening of doors for service, and reaching capacity to welcome four fantastic young women this August. Just after Easter, the Trustees surprised us with an unprecedented show of support for our work in the form of a generous matching grant for up to $15,000. In this we again see signs of God’s spirit at work to give us new life, and we’re grateful to the Trustees and to all who will enable us to meet this match. One way we can get there is through your generosity at the Pentecost celebration on June 8th, whose offering will go toward covering the cost of housing our YAVs this year. We look forward to hearing and sharing stories from all the congregations about how they’ve seen God’s spirit at work among us!"

If you and your church are interested in learning more about or working with the YAV program, you can fill out their contact form here.

If you would like to donate to their program outside of the offering on June 8, you can do so on their website here.

Email Scam

Two of our churches have reported scam emails being sent to parishioners that looked like they were from the pastor. Even if the name of someone you know appears as the sender and in the signature of an email, make sure you check what email address is really sending the message.

These sorts of scam emails are rather simple to create, and hopefully someone will move on to never be heard from again soon. If you get one of these scam emails, do not respond. Simply delete them.

Cindy's Travelogue

As Cindy Kohlmann travels the country as part of her role as Co-Moderator of the General Assembly, a new series on our blog will follow her, featuring highlights of her journeys in her own words: sights seen, people met, and lessons learned. The second post that went up this week highlights her trip to Northern California speaking about PTSD and veteran suicide, as well as visiting the Sacramento Presbytery and San Francisco Theological Seminary.
