The turtle
In our previous newsletter, we mentioned that Africa is an event-oriented culture which means the amount of time needed to get something done is not in consideration. It's like the old tortoises we saw last week on our day off here in South Florida. Slow and steady but gosh they live forever. Just like those turtles, our Visa process has been slow and steady. Our leadership has been working very hard over the past few months. And now all that work and effort is paying off. Here is an update with a very important prayer request:

From Kevin our Unit Leader.......
In the past few weeks I have been able to meet with various government officials and community stake holders. All the community leaders and stakeholders have been supportive (and given me letters of support to take to immigration) and the majority of government officials have been very open to talking yet there remains a profound lack of understanding of what a faith based missionary is and how faith in Christ and strong churches can benefit society. Because of this I have been advised to find an audience with the head of Immigration. Through a connection we are praying that a meeting with a Mr. Maritz, the Permanent Secretary of Immigration will happen within the next few weeks. If he could understand our motive and see the value of us bringing people (like Jeremy and Claudia!) it is possible a door could be opened for them and many more missionaries (through other organizations as well). Please pray!

In Tsumkwe itself many are excited by the Hazels returning to work among them and Chief Bobo is thankful AIM is returning to work in Tsumkwe and the surrounding villages. Please continue to pray that another two couples/families will join the Hazels in Tsumkwe this year!

               His! Kevin (Namibia UL)

We are committed to staying the course. We believe God has led us to return to the Bushmen of Namibia and He has provided for our needs to return.
We ask that you join us in praying for this meeting.  Our leadership has gotten all these letters of support from the bushman and locals. This is the next step in the slow process.

Yesterday as I was talking to Kevin, I told him, "yes we are tired of waiting. Though looking with the eyes of eternity, wouldn't it be wonderful if 'our' Visa struggle opened the door not only for us but for others to freely reach those in Namibia who haven't heard the Good News of John 3:16 spoken in their own language yet."
Fire Ants and Mosquitoes
Down here at ECHO those two little things are a constant battle. We have settled into a good routine. We are learning so much we can take and apply in Namibia.
* Jeremy is working two days a week with the director of Appropriate Technology. He is assisting in building three different demonstration models of solar dryers. The solar dryers are used to dehydrate meat, fruit, leaves and even seeds. Without refrigeration keeping what one works hard to grow and catch is important. He is also learning a lot of other practical technologies and how to raise various livestock.
* Claudia is working two days a week in propagation of the nursery. She is learning how to air layer, graft, divide and pot up various types of tropical plants. She is learning new types of plants and their uses. She is also keeping her hands dirty by weeding and helping the interns maintain their regional gardens on the farm.
* We take turns attending the various seminars offered on campus and helping on farm projects each week. We take turns looking after Anastasia while the other one is working.
* Anastasia is learning the sounds each animal makes on the farm and what they like to eat. She loves going on a walk in the morning and evening to visit all the animals: sheep, goats, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, and rabbits. She is even learning how to drive a golf-cart with daddy's assistance.

P.S. Please don't respost this to facebook or social media as it does contain some sensitive information.  Thank You.
