I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.

June's Everyday Eco-Habit for Everyday People is...
Summer is sneaking up on us and, if you are like me, you are planning some summer get-a-ways to drive out of town in the upcoming months.  Maybe you're headed up the mountains to soak in all of that fresh, crisp air, or maybe you're headed to the beach to enjoy the sound of the waves and the ocean breezes.  Wherever you go, a super easy Everyday Eco-Habit to adopt this summer is to Go Idle-LESS.  What is idling?  Idling is when you leave your car running while not driving.  So, Going Idle-LESS means just turning your car off instead of idling.  This Everyday Eco-Habit turns out to be one of the most effective ways to create a healthier environment. Simple.  Easy.  Save the Planet.  Done.  Make your Pledge to Go Idle-LESS on my facebook page  Kim Lewand Martin, on my Instagram @kim-ecohabits, or by emailing me through my blog website Kim Lewand Martin

Look for me around town in this NEV this June . . .
Win an NEV for a weekend by taking my Pledge to Go Idle-LESS!
Did you know 70% of a household's trips are under 3 miles? - a bit too long to walk and a bit too short to take public transit, but ideal for Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs).  According to a study by the South Bay Cities Council of Governments, by driving an NEV, the average household can reduce their emissions by 20%!  This June, I will be driving around town in this green NEV from E3Vehicles to reduce my idling and emissions.
The good news is that E3 Vehicles is offering you the chance to try one too!  Simply take my Pledge to Go Idle-LESS & you will be entered into a raffle to drive a Tomberlin NEV FREE FOR A WHOLE WEEKEND from My Green Friend e3vehicles!  Or stop by and mention my blog & you can test drive one of E3’s electric vehicle for an hour any time this month.  I had the pleasure of interviewing the owner of E3 Vehicles, Amy Errett.  Check out my interview with Amy below to learn more about NEVs and your chance to try one.
Recap of Going Toxin-LESS
Nothing beats a clean healthy home!  How did your May Pledge to Go Toxin-LESS in your home go?  I hope you adopted some simple tweaks to your Everyday Eco-Habits that made your home, your planet and your body healthier and LESS toxic!  Did you Pledge to:
  • Take off your shoes when you entered your home?
  • Use non-toxic cleaners when you spring cleaned your home?
  • Make your own cleaners?
  • Purchase a plant that absorbs toxins?
  • Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter?
  • Forego using bleach?
  • Switch to beeswax candles?
  • Replace dryer sheets with wool dryer balls (that was my Pledge)?
  • Ditch your air fresheners?
  • Open your windows?
  • Use an air purifier?
  • Go Toxin-LESS in your school?
However you Pledged to Go Toxin-LESS, feel good knowing that by spring cleaning without using toxic cleaners, you created a clean home, a clean earth, and a clean bill of health all at the same time!

How are your 2019 Eco-Habit Pledges Going?
I hope your Pledges to adopt Everyday Eco-Habits are going well.  I am continuing to stick to Meat-LESS on Mondays and at least 1 plant based meal a day; Go Food Waste-LESS by trying to use the food I have in my pantry and refrigerator; Go Water-LESS Outdoors by putting a bucket in the shower to collect grey water to water my blackberry bush; Go Toxin-LESS by using wool dryer balls instead of dryer sheets; and Go Clothes-LESS by not buying clothes for a whole year.  I’ve made it another month (5 months now!) without buying a single clothing item!  I am shopping my own closet and good friends are letting me shop theirs too:) And there is talk of holding a South Bay clothes swap, so stay tuned for that. Whatever your Pledges, keep them up!!!
It’s these easy Everyday Eco-Habits that will change the world,
one person and one Eco-Habit at a time!

YOU, My Green Friend, may only be one, but you are one.
You may not be able to do everything, but you can do something.
Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
YOU can adopt Everyday Eco-Habits to
make the world a better, healthier place for yourself and future generations.
