High Spirits - June 2019

Season of Light and Learning

As Spiritualists, we know that it is our purpose to progress, learn and unfold, both in the physical and in spirit. We strive to understand and comply with Nature’s physical and spiritual laws. As stated in our NSAC Spiritualist Manual by Professor James S. Loveland, one of our early Spiritualist authors and lecturers who lived in our community of Summerland in the late 1800’s: “Modern Spiritualism is the child of progress. Spiritualism and mediumship are progressive… No man or woman can acquire too much knowledge.” He goes on to state that any form of mediumship should contribute to our own personal unfoldment or growth.

As we say farewell to the month of May, we give our heartfelt gratitude to Robin Hodson, ISF President and International medium, teacher and mentor, who so lovingly and caringly helped us to grow, learn and expand our individual spiritual natures and our connections with Spirit during his visit here to Santa Barbara. We are deeply thankful for the many opportunities and blessings we shared through the workshops, events and experiences he provided through his dedicated teaching and service, helping us to learn more about trance, mediumship and healing.

We had the amazing joy of experiencing physical phenomena when five crystal apports manifested in our church sanctuary. Gratitude also to the Rev. Rosemary Calderalo, NST, who joined us from Maryland to participate in our amazing week and assist in Robin’s trance demonstration. And thank you to all who helped and shared in our extraordinary time together.
June brings us more learning and more light as we approach the summer solstice. We are honored and grateful to welcome our June speakers. On June 2, Dr. Lima Bergmann will serve as our Sunday speaker and medium, and Thomas Robinson returns to our platform on June 9. We celebrate Father’s Day on June 16 with our church congregants, and on Sunday, June 23, we are delighted to welcome The Rev. Cosie Allen who will be here to teach the 2 week Morris Pratt Institute Pastoral Skills Course which we have the honor of hosting this year in Santa Barbara. It is a joy to announce that six of our church members will be attending this course along with several other students coming from other areas of California and out of state. The Rev. Cosie Allen is an NSAC Board Trustee and serves on the Morris Pratt Institute Board. We are very much looking forward to her visit! We will end the month of June with the happy return of our dear friend, the Rev. Dr. Julia Kyle.

As we welcome the season of Summer, may we reflect on the love and light that pours forth form our church community. We are blessed with a congregation of individuals who lovingly share their many gifts of time, energy and creativity. A special acknowledgment this month to our Flower Ladies, Maria Cunningham and Stephanie Newitt. They keep our church filled with their glorious expressions of Nature’s beauty. Thank you, beautiful ladies!! Wishing a Joyful Summer of light and learning to all!

With my love, Pastor Pam
