Transition of Kinder Students

On June 7, 2019, at 14:00, we will hold our Kinder Celebration party to honor our students who finish their Preschool chapter and get ready to start a new experience in the Elementary School.  We encourage all families to come and join us for this special day. We will celebrate with songs, workshops, refreshments… and also with a photocall to take some fun photos.

Children should come well-dressed but also comfortable so that they can participate in the activities we have planned.

We would like to stress that it's a time to celebrate with Kinder students only, for this is a very special occasion for them.  Siblings in other grades are to remain in their classes -- thank you for your understanding.

Additionally, if you are planning to take your child home with you at the end of the celebration, please let us know by filling in this form: ASV Kinder Celebration 2019.   Once again, we encourage siblings in other grades to stay until the end of the school day so as not to miss class or testings.

Congratulations Kinder Class 2018-2019!

Grades 4 and 5 Musical

This week Ms. Coleen Mann, the music teacher in Grades 4 and 5, organized open session for parents in which students carried out a musical titled  “Character Matters”. The show was a special project which helped students to strengthen skills such as singing, dancing, and acting.

“Character Matters” featured popular fairy tale characters discussing their problems and getting advice from a sort of Fairy Tale Council. The script talked about kindness, honesty, forgiveness, and patience.

When introducing each show, Ms. Mann commented how students have been engaged with the project and appreciated the warm support of their parents, as children have spent some time at home memorizing the songs and preparing the costumes.
Kinder Visited a Farm

Kinder had a great time at the farm learning more about taking care of plants. Students got to harvest potatoes and carrots from the garden, feed the chickens, and make horchata.

Preparing Teacher Appreciation Lunch

On June 6 the ASV community is invited to share their appreciation for the teachers who have supported their child’s learning throughout the year.   Parents are invited to contribute to the annual pot-luck luncheon, an event that is special and has been very well-received.  Below please find the link for parents to indicate what food they would like to bring (if it is possible), and also to indicate whether any assistance can be provided in serving.   We ask students to show their appreciation on June 6 by sharing a personal note and/or a small token of their appreciation (such as a flower or a small treat).

Girls Soccer at ASV

On May 28, the girls enrolled in the ASV+ Soccer activity played a friendly match against Fútbol Club Femenino Rafelbunyol. The activity was one of the several games that coach Ojelade is organizing to conclude the 2018-2019 season. ASV won 4 - 1 and Mr. Ojelade remarked the “great play” and “the attitude of ASV girls who were from Grade 5 to Grade 10!”

But there is more soccer taking place: on June 1, 2019, the Middle School and Varsity soccer teams are having  a gathering with other players from American School of Madrid and Cambridge House Community College. Games will be played at the ASV Athletic Field starting at 17:00 and there will be a pizza party for all of the students at 19:30.  On Sunday, June 2, ASV, Cambridge House, players from other bilingual schools in Valencia and Marítim Club de Fútbol Femenino will play more games at Cracks Football Club, Paterna.

2018-2019 Hockey League

The season is over for the ASV+ hockey team in Grades 5 and 6 and our athletic staff is highly satisfied for the way students have competed in the two tournaments -field and indoor- organized by the Valencian Hockey Federation (FHCV) and the Foundation for Sport Activities in Valencia (FDM).

The ASV+ program organizes the activity following the school divisions -Elementary and Middle School- but the FHCV and FDM tournaments required a single team made of boys and girls in Grades 5 and 6. “Our first games were hard but a few weeks before completing the first leg of the league the team was fully coordinated and the new players were a positive contribution,” coach Vicente Orero remarked.

ASV numbers in both leagues are great. “The team has finished among the top three teams both in the field and the indoor tournament. Students have competed against other players who train four hours a week and their teams are focused on high performance,” Mr. Orero said, “while the ASV+ teams promote long-term growth and educational values.  I am very happy, congratulations to all of our players!”.

Some players said:

“We played against difficult rivals.” - José P. (Grade 6)
“We have been good team mates” - Ismael S. (Grade 6)
“It was my first year but I feel really good.” - Cayetana E. (Grade 6)
“The team has been very friendly” - Nirvana P. (Grade 6)
