EBO #233--16 June 2019
I just arrived late last night in New Delhi on a nearly 3 week trip to the Sub-Continent. Thanks for your prayers despite my dearth of communication since my last trip. Lots to lift up to the Father for this current trip, details below.

Looking Back
  • The theme of life these days seems to be that things happen much more slowly than I'd like!  A key function of my work with Seed Company is working with national partner organziations to develop grant proposals and budgets for funding for new Bible translation projects. On my last trip in February I began work on 4 new projects to reach 10 languages. Only one of those has final approval right now. There are always tons of details and questions, lots of emails and calls and waiting. And waiting. Due diligence takes lots of communication and time.
  • Last time I asked prayer for a new role working with a new Indian partner, and I feel that God has really answered with good, clear, and honest communication with them. They are a great bunch. And it's complicated and therefore slow. I'm thankful especially for a full-day face-to-face meeting on Vashon last month.
  • Last trip I worked with a young consultant-in-training to check the first eight chapters of Luke in the "Kungka" language. That went super smoothly.
  • If you have 5 minutes, check out this video that a donor church put together about one of my projects, capturing what it means for a church to get the Scriptures in their language.
Consultant checking with Kungka team in February. I'll check another portion of Luke next week, together with two separate new consultants-in-training
   Looking Ahead--Please Pray
  • From today through Saturday I'll be meeting back-to-back with 3 different partner organizations in two locations, including the new partner, to get to know each other, work through details of new proposed projects, to review existing ones, and to understand and address challenges that have come up.
  • Sunday I fly up to *N for a week of consultant checking together with two consultant-in-training that I'll be mentoring. We've been working back and for the last several weeks preparing for this check, with lots still to do. Prayers appreciated.
  • July 1-3 I'll close out my time working with former colleagues on proposals for new 3-year projects for work in 15 languages.

   Update from the homefront
  • For the last 12 months LB and I have been immersed in a building project on our property, remodeling and finishing off the interior of an existing building on our property. It's been a ton of work, but super satisfying to create something beautiful out of something not very useful. It's now a fully self-contained tiny home cottage ready for rent and to host friends. Check it out, and come visit!
  • Caleb has recently gotten his real estate license and is fully immersed in the world of real estate, bringing new life and beauty to buildings that have seen better days.
  • Luke is now living with Caleb in Portland, working at a local coffee shop while he pursues multiple passions outdoors and in photography
  • Josh just completed his junior year as a Business Finance major at Trinity Western U, and is doing a summer internship with....Caleb!, living with his brothers in Portland, and also working a part-time job in a restaurant and taking some summer classes.
  • LB has been working hard with her brothers getting her dad's house ready to sell. Her parents lived their entire married lives in the same house, and never cleaned out, so you can just imagine the job of cleaning out! We are praying that the house will go on the market soon, and that this chapter of life will soon be completed.
