Volunteers Needed for ESL and SSL Classes!

Are you interested in helping others? Getting more involved in the Cathedral? St. Matthew's Cathedral offers English and Spanish as a Second Language classes to almost 100 of our brothers and sisters, and we need your help! We are in need of volunteers to help teach both ESL and SSL during this spring semester (June 11 - July 31, 2019). ESL classes are taught levels 1-5 to our immigrant brothers and sisters, and SSL classes are taught levels 1-3 to parishioners and community members who wish to improve their Spanish language skills.

Please consider volunteering to teach one night per week (Tuesday or Wednesday)
from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Classes begin on June 11, and are held at the parish education center (1726 N Street, NW). Our program is entirely run by volunteers, and our students count on us to help them learn vital lingual skills, as well as be welcomed into the local community. More information can be found here.

New to teaching English or Spanish? New teachers will be placed with an experienced co-teacher.

Do you know someone who may benefit from the parish's ESL program? Please forward this email to them so they can learn more about the program!

Please email Rhoda of our ESL team or Carina of our SSL team to volunteer or with any questions. We hope you will consider volunteering with this wonderful parish program!

You can help build the Kingdom of God here in Washington, DC by sharing your talents with our brothers and sisters! Please email the ESL or SSL team to volunteer to teach one night per week!
