Educational Games That Make Learning Fun
Here are some educational games you can play with your children over the summer that make learning fun:  
  1. Try to Place all the U.S. states on a map
  2. Science Kids: Games, projects, quizzes and information about a variety of basic science concepts
  3. Social Studies for kids
  4. Trivia Plaza/Science: Online quizzes about elements and abbreviations
  5. Counting Money: Builds skills in counting coins
  6. Cosmos 4 Kids: Information about the solar system, galaxies and more
  7. SuperKids Vocabulary Builder: for seventh through ninth grades
  8. Vocabulary Games: Includes world language support
  9. Free Typing Games, lessons and tests
  10. Free Rice: Answer vocabulary questions to earn rice for the hungry
Stay In Touch With Hawthorn
Did you know that there are many ways to stay in touch with Hawthorn? Take your pick: The District Office number is: 847-990-4200. Over the summer, the District Office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  It is closed on Fridays. The address is: 841 West End Court in Vernon Hills.
What's Happening with the PTO
  • Visit the PTO Store to pre-order your Online Dial and Discount Card for $15 each or only $25 for both. You can also pre-pay elementary room party fees, pick up your Hawthorn Eagles key chain, or boxed greeting cards and contribute to 2020 Staff Appreciation. The Online Dial is a must for birthday party invites and car-pooling. The Discount Card brings you savings on many of your favorite vendors throughout the yearConvenient one stop shopping with Visa, Mastercard or Discover.
     
  • If you were unable to make it to the PTO Open House on May 22nd but are still interested in learning more about the PTO, let’s talk!! We would love for you to share your time and talents with us! Any amount of time you are able to donate to volunteer is valuable! District Seeks Input on Middle School North Expansion Plans

Hawthorn School District 73 will hold a community forum for members of the public to provide input for the development of the plans to expand and renovate Hawthorn Middle School North.  The event will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at the Middle School North gym, 201 Hawthorn Parkway in Vernon Hills. 

Keep Your Students Reading This Summer
Don't forget the importance of reading over the summer.  The Aspen Library's Summer Reading Program is a great way to enjoy some great books and practice our reading skills.   Help your school win the trophy of best participation in the summer reading program.  Here is the link to join:  http://tiny.cc/omcs7y

Do You Have New Neighbors?
Please let neighbors who are new to Hawthorn District 73 know that they should register their children for the school year as soon as possible. Families whose children are enrolling in District 73 schools for the first time, should fill out the required forms and turn them into the registrar during a scheduled visit.
