Q. What is a carbon footprint? I keep reading about it and I'm not sure. -G
A: Hi G. Thanks for your question. A carbon footprint is the emissions caused by someone, some entity, business or government. The carbon footprint of your business would include all activities that cause carbon dioxide emissions. These could include energy use, waste pickup, recycling, and miles flown.
If you are worried about your carbon footprint, consider the following questions:
1. Where does my electricity, heat, and cooling come from and am I conscious of how much I am using?
2. How many miles annually do I fly?
3. How far does my food travel to get to me?
There are lots of online calculators online that give you suggestions based on your current footprint. Find one here or here.
