Sound Discipline's Parenting Newsletter
We are so honored to have partnered with 30 schools, over 4500 outstanding educators, and hundreds of parent educators and parents during the 2018-2019 school year, working toward equitable, hopeful and diverse communities in which every child feels included and valued, and in which people treat each other with dignity and respect. We've worked together to build strong families and communities, improve school climate, reduce discipline issues and improve equity. We wish you all a relaxing and rejuvenating summer, and look forward to working and learning with you in 2019-2020!

You can continue to build your parenting skills this summer - the Positive Discipline Association Conference is in Seattle on Friday, July 12, and features a parenting track. Hope to see you there!
This month we are focusing on Perseverance and Persistence. Can you remember a time your child insisted on continuing to build something, or play or read – when you needed to go somewhere? Perseverance can be frustrating and inconvenient! When they are sticking to something they want to do – even though you need them to do something else, it is challenging. Yet, it is an important life skill!
The definition of perseverance is the ability and desire to persist in the face of adversity (which in some cases is your request to do something when they are engaged in doing something else). Some children seem to be born with this kind of focus and determination, while others need more practice to develop it. Check out our blog this month for some ideas for growing your child’s perseverance. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter for daily suggestions.
Parenting with Positive Discipline
Schedule a parenting workshop for your school or community during the 2019-2020 school year!

We offer a 2-hour Introduction to Positive Discipline workshop as well as a 6-week Parenting with Positive Discipline Series.
Feedback from our recent Parenting with Positive Discipline 6-week series:

"I miss you all and our Tuesday nights together! However I've never enjoyed school events as much as I have since taking our class! Everywhere I look I see a friendly face and someone to talk to; it helps me remember I'm not alone!"

"I loved this class, it was more than just a meeting, I connected with many of the parents in the class and felt understood. Also the way the class was given in such a caring way, it taught me a lot! Loved this class."
