This week's issue finds me in the middle of back-to-back weekends of meet directing with a 36-hour family vacation and summer league meets squeezed in too. For that reason this week's e-mail won't be quite as jam-packed with info and resources for you. My aim is to keep this newsletter arriving in your inbox every Tuesday, it just has to adjust to life a little more than usual this week.

This New York Times piece by Karen Crowder is one of the best swimming stories I have ever read: Inspiration for a Swimmer and a Writer in 1976.
Remember soccer player Freddy Adu? A cautionary tale on bestowing the label of greatness on an athlete too young to handle that burden.
How a sixth grade science teacher revolutionized Olympic swimming tells the story in "The Three Year Swim Club," a book definitely on my short list to read.
Uh, Luca Urlando is going really, really fast.

A good kick set has always felt to me like a down payment on the back half of a race. "Half-hour" legs was a good one for us this week.
