The CWE Home & Garden Tour

Food and drink from Friday's Kick-Off party was made and styled by The Social Affair.  Tourists experienced delightful tours, stories, interiors and gardens on the tree lined streets of Kingsbury Place.

CWE Sounds of Summer Music Series - We’re celebrating the return of warmer weather by bringing live music to the streets of the #CWEscene! Every Friday night from 6-9 p.m., you can sip, shop and stroll throughout the neighborhood, all while listening to the sounds of local, live musicians.

Musicians will be stationed at the corners of Maryland & Euclid and McPherson & Euclid. These performances are FREE and open to the public.

In addition to live music, on the First Friday of the month from May-September, several CWE retailers will be extending their hours to give you more opportunities to shop local!

Saturday, June 22, 10:00am-6:00pm: The Delmar Maker Fair celebrates artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs of all kinds! Many vendors will not only be selling their handmade wares, but also demonstrating their process to inspire future creators. Come support this inaugural event in the Delmar Maker District, in the grass lots across from MADE at 5127 Delmar Blvd. RSVP on Facebook for updates.
Up - Down St. Louis is open! - Up-Down St. Louis features more than 60 arcade games from the ‘80s and ‘90s, pinball machines, four classic skee-ball alleys, Nintendo 64 console gaming, life-size Jenga and Connect Four.

All games cost just 25 cents. Our drink menu includes an extensive craft beer selection with over 60 beers on tap and even more bottles and cans, as well as house-made pizza by the slice with unique toppings.

Wednesday, June 19 - 7-8pm - Jordan Whitmore at Evangeline's - Texas singer/songwriter Jordan Whitmore promotes her upcoming EP, Good Things, on a solo tour this summer. Now five records into her career, Whitmore has maintained her artistic independence while racking up a list of accolades. Her sharply-written songs have been finalists at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and award-winners at the National Unplugged Songwriting Contest. Working alongside longtime producer Brian Douglas Phillips, she brings that sound full circle with her upcoming "Good Things" EP, touching upon the melody-heavy chops that helped launch her career while also pushing into unexplored territory.
Wednesday, June 19 - Left Bank Books - 7-8:30pm - Humble Beginnings - Tipping the Velvet - Join Humble Beginnings (www.left-bank.com/humble-beginnings) for a reading group discussion of "Tipping the Velvet" by Sarah Waters! Nan King, an oyster girl, is captivated by the music hall phenomenon Kitty Butler, a male impersonator extraordinaire treading the boards in Canterbury. Through a friend at the box office, Nan manages to visit all her shows and finally meet her heroine. Soon after, she becomes Kitty's dresser and the two head for the bright lights of Leicester Square where they begin a glittering career as music-hall stars in an all-singing and dancing double act. At the same time, behind closed doors, they admit their attraction to each other and their affair begins.

Eldraco + FreeNation will be playing music from their debut album State of Nature to be released this summer! Come live an afternoon with us at 2pm and be Free!
Saturday, June 22 - Bowood Farms - Beginning Basket Weaving - 10a - 1p - Learn the art of basket weaving in this introductory workshop with basket weaver Francie Null. Francie will teach you how to weave reeds together to create a small basket perfect for trinkets or a small plant. The small workshop size will allow for lots of one-on-one guidance and instruction. This beginner’s class is the perfect way to learn the basic principles of basket weaving. Since this is a longer workshop, Café Osage will provide baked goods for a snack.Workshop is limited to 6 people. Call 314-454-6868 to reserve your spot.

Saturday, June 22 - Bowood Farms - Detox Bath Salts with Butter Love - 2 - 4pm - Join La’Crassia Wilderness of Butter Love for this DIY Detox Bath Salts Workshop where you will make your own personalized batch of salts for all your relaxation needs. You will combine a unique mixture of salts and herbs of your choice to create the perfect custom detox bath just for you. This class will offer tons of information on the benefits of each ingredient and the importance of detoxifying your body and mind along with self-care tips. Sunday, June 23 - Sustainable Backyard Tour - don’t miss this year’s Sustainable Backyard Tour—Sunday, June 23, 2019. The first tour in 2011 featured 30 private residential yards throughout the city and county that showcased a variety of elements, from organic vegetable gardening to goat keeping! In 2012, with the help of volunteers, the tour expanded to include 54 stops and some 1300 registered guests.Response to that simple open-yard Sunday was overwhelming. CWEA Business members Beyond the Flower Pot and The CWE Farm will be featured in this year's Sustainable Backyard Tour!
Friday, June 28 - Bowood Farms - Shibori Dying - 10-a - 12pm  - Shibori is a Japanese dyeing technique that involves folding, twisting, binding or bunching cloth and dyeing it with indigo. Each student will receive two yards of fabric to dye- that can be made into napkins, a table runner, tea towels or a pillow cover etc… The possibilities are endless! You will be able to allow your creativity to flow and produce a one of a kind product. This workshop involves the use of indigo dye and is held outside, please dress accordingly in old clothing that may be stained. Workshop is limited to 10 participants.

Larysa grows and forages flowers on her small-scale farm to create romantic arrangements with layers of colors and textures. Through this hands-on class you will learn how to create your own beautiful centerpiece with tips from Larysa. The stunning arrangement you create, along with the vessel and flower frog, are yours to take home. Monday, July 29 Cathedral Concerts announces their 2019 - 2020 season - Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts, an independent nonprofit that brings sacred and classical music to St. Louis from world-class musicians, releases its concert lineup for the 27th season. The 2019-2020 season kicks off Monday, July 29th at 8:00pm, and continues through Friday, April 21st, 2020. The series of live concerts will showcase notable musicians in one of the world’s most striking cathedrals, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis located at 4431 Lindell Blvd.
