Team photos
Team photos are scheduled for this Sunday, 23 June at Drummoyne Oval for the following teams:

  • All U12 teams, including Youth Girls
  • Both U14 Youth Girls teams, plus U14-2
  • U15-2

Other teams - all U13 teams, U14-3, U16 and U18 Youth Girls and U17 - will be on Sunday 30 June at St Lukes.

For all teams, your managers have your times and order envelopes.

The weather forecast looks like rain this week and we will communicate with your managers towards the end of the week, if alternative arrangements are required. We will do all we can not to cancel team photos this weekend as there are limited opportunities to reschedule.

No long skins or clothing under uniforms. Please wear correct socks and footy boots. If you are having photographs AFTER your game, please be aware that wet wipes or towels may be required for grubby knees. (Or go for the mud shot.)

Merchandise
Off field merchandise orders should be with us very soon. We expect training tees and bags to be delivered this week, with hoodies and track pants coming the week after. We will advise your managers (and post on social media) about pickup times.

Wet weather: For training sessions, we'll update FACEBOOK by about 3pm on training days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). On game day, the first place to be updated will be the Wet Weather Check website. We will then also post on social media. Unless you have been told your game is cancelled, assume it is on!

The photo below shows the centre square at St Luke's on Sunday - you can see why it was not in use. (Dean will tell you he is checking the ground... we suspect he's also enjoying splashing in puddles.)
Sponsor Profile: Sundaraj and Ker provide strategic legal & commercial advice for ASX-listed entities, private companies, fund managers and private equity clients. If you need corporate lawyers you can trust, contact Managing Principal Belinda Sundaraj, or Principals Anand Sundaraj or Bob Ker. They've been generously supporting grassroots footy for a while now - and we appreciate their ongoing Silver sponsorship of the Canada Bay Cannons. You'll find their contact details online: https://sun.law
Around the Grounds

It's not something we see often enough in Sydney, but the theme for Round 9 was "wet weather footy", and the highlights were two epics wins.

Going into Round 9, both the U14 Div 1 Youth Girls Orange team and Maroubra Saints were undefeated. It was the top of the table clash that everyone was waiting for, and our girls dug deep and won it in style. There's a match report from Angus on our blog, some photos from Tania, and Josef sent in a video.

It was a footy fairytale finish for our U17 Cannons against Forest Lions at ELS Hall on Sunday. Down by 26 points at three quarter time, the Cannons clawed their way back in the final quarter.

They were still nine points down with 90 seconds on the clock and kicked two goals in that last minute and a half.

Team captain Josh dribbled one through from 2m out after competing in the forward pocket. There was a really quick ball up and our key forward George marked and scored another on the siren. Epic stuff. Shows the game is never over until its over.

You can live the team's excitement through this series of photos from Kylie. But there are a lot of other moments that make up a game, and you'll find more action shots from Kylie here... and the team song here.

Kylie also sent in some great pics of the action between our U15 Cannons and Forest Lions, also at ELS Hall. It was a tough game, and Forest went home with the points for that game but we're proud of our boys. And check out that speccie... another contender for Mark of the Week!

Our U12 Youth Girls managed to get in a half field game (the centre pitch was definitely out of action). U12 Teal played most of a half-field game, but it was abandoned midway through, before St Luke's Oval was closed.

For U12 Girls, there is a gallery of pics online and your manager has access details to the full game day gallery.

U12 Teal won't forget that game! The gallery is on Facebook

U12 Orange LOVE the wet. There's no other explanation for the phenomenal effort v Miranda Bombers at Waratah Park. They started strongly and then powered up a gear. See Laura's pic on Facebook.

Wondering why you're seeing some teams are profiled online and in our newsletter and not others? Well, those teams send in results, match reports (or even just brief match summaries) and photos/videos. We'd love to see your teams feature too! If you would like your team to be included, please contact Michelle. We also love to share individual, team and volunteer achievements so if you have some news, please let us know.
