Healing Harms & Restoring Relationships within the Community

Hello Everyone!
"Go forth and set the world on fire" St Ignatius of Loyola

We hope this message finds you all well as bonfire season comes to a close!  We hope you're setting the world on fire with your passion for RJ... but simmer down a touch for wildfire season, eh?!  Seriously though, thank you so much for your continued interest and commitment to Restorative Justice. Today we are reaching out to let you know we have upcoming Peacemaking Circle Trainings, (another tool to set the world on fire - because yes, we are this cheesy).  We would love nothing more than for you to participate. Our first training will take place this Summer as follows:

  • Dates: Monday, August 19th - Wednesday, August 21st

  • Time: Daily, 9am-3pm

  • Where: Mission Point House, Davis Bay

  • Confirm Participation by: Monday, August 12th

The lovely Nancy Denham and Jan Smalley will be your facilitators. Space will be limited to 15 participants in this first training, but spaces are going fast so register soon! This course is subsidized at a rate of $375, however there is a remaining fee of $50 per participant. This covers the cost of the Manual, as well as any other materials for trainees to keep. However, we do understand that this may not be accessible for everyone. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any concerns about the cost. Payment can be made by cash or cheque, and is also due by Monday, August 12th - this will ensure your place is held. To arrange payment please reach out to Maya or Nancy (contact info below). Refreshments will be provided.

Course learning objectives include:

  • To provide the training and support to become a Circle Keeper

  • To understand the philosophy of Circles and the Indigenous Practices

  • To learn the value of Circles

  • To determine when a Circle is suitable

  • To prepare participants and the self for a Circle

  • To maintain a Circle from opening to closing

Please send your confirmation of participation (including payment and completed application form), along with your preferred method of contact to maya@rjpsc by Monday, August 12th. If you would like more information please contact Maya Treuheit at 604.989.1786 or Nancy Denham at 604.740.6400. We look forward to seeing many of you soon!
