The Ask for Angela initiative has certainly caught the public imagination and many local Pubwatch schemes have played their part in promoting its aims and objectives. However, we have received a small number of complaints from people telling us that the initiative is only focused on helping female customers and that we are in some way ignoring the needs of men and the LGBT community, who may also face problems in the night time economy…(read more here)

CONWY PUBWATCH CHAIRMAN RECEIVES STAR AWARD

Garry Plumb, who is the Manager of the Maelgwyn Public House in Llandudno Junction, was nominated by Samantha Jones of Conwy Council for this award.  He was one of the original founders and member of the Conwy Pubwatch which was launched 16 years ago and has been chair for 10 years…(read more here)

SEVEN PEOPLE BANNED FROM NEWTOWN PUBS UNDER PUBWATCH SCHEME

Seven people have been banned from Newtown’s pubs under a scheme to reduce alcohol-related crime.  The “Behave or Be Banned” (BOBB) scheme was relaunched last year and sees problem customers banned from all pubs in the area that have signed up. POLICE WARNING AFTER WHITEHAVEN WOMAN BANNED FROM 120 LICENSED PREMISES

Police have sent out a stark warning to people causing drink-fuelled trouble in pubs and clubs after a woman was banned from about 120 licensed premises across West Cumbria.  Officers say other people causing problems also face potential bans – and this could see their social lives ruined…(read more here)

LANDLORDS JOIN FORCES TO LAUNCH PUBWATCH SCHEME

GWENT PUBWATCH SCHEMES FUND ACID RESPONSE KITS

Acid attack response kits have been rolled out across pubs in Torfaen.  The borough is the second of the Gwent authorities to introduce the kits, after nine were introduced in pubs in Caerphilly in January.  Funded by Pontypool Pubwatch, Cwmbran Pubwatch and Cwmbran Street Pastors, the kits will be distributed across 25 locations…(read more here)

BLAENAU GWENT PUBWATCH RECEIVE ACID ATTACK KITS

Gwent Police joined forces with Tredegar Rugby Club to host an initiative to make social venues in Blaenau Gwent aware of acid attack kits.  The rollout means that people will have access to the equipment should an incident occur, allowing the provision of immediate first aid until the emergency services arrive…(read more here)

BARS, HOTELS AND CLUBS JOIN ELLON & DISTRICT PUBWATCH

Ellon and District Pubwatch has recently completed a major restructuring process in a bid to keep the community safe.  The group is made up of licence holders who aim to improve the ambience of the environment in bar premises and enhance the safety, security, comfort and well-being of customers and staff so that any visit is a pleasurable occasion which they will wish to repeat…(read more here)

WIGAN PUB BOSS WAS ATTACKED BY PARTNER OF SACKED EMPLOYEE

A pub manager was punched 30 times and had a bar stool thrown at him by the partner of a woman he had sacked, a court heard.  Darryl Dronsfield was attacked behind the bar of the White Horse, on Standishgate, when father-of-three Lee Maguire saw “red mist”…(read more here)

BANS OF 100 PEOPLE BARRED FROM CONWY PUBS TO BE LIFTED

At a Pubwatch annual general meeting last week, volunteers decided which punters could return to their local boozers because the list was “getting too long.  Those let back on good behaviour are the people who have served at least half of their ban without any breaches.  Arguably the most well-known name of the West Conwy Pubwatch list was Salvage Hunters star Drew Pritchard…(read more here)
