We are Motivated

We continue to be impressed and motivated by the many new food makers that cross our path every week and month. They help us keep our eye on the prize  of finding a way to get our commercial kitchen in place for Cape Cod.  The demand is there and we find food makers of all types across all areas of the Cape.

Just this week, we have spoken to 3 new food-based start-up entrepreneurs:
  • An energy snack food maker
  • A new business using a recipe for homemade meatballs
  • Lobster based dip for vegetables and crackers
Great to see the seeds of new business activity being planted.

We are Inspired

Our first youth cooking class “graduated” this week with 7 kids from Barnstable cooking a full meal and then serving to their parents and families. They were hard at work for a couple of hours in the kitchen at Faith Federated with Chef Jeni Wheeler. What a kick watching them diligently mixing cake ingredients, homemade whipped cream and cutting up fruit to make Trifle. Others were seasoning meat and fish and then using an electric knife to slice some meat. Even washing dishes became fun using the commercial dishwashers.  And they were serious and ‘into it’.

This was a seven session series of classes where they learned about food and kitchen safety, nutrition and food groups, planning a meal, following recipe, learning ingredients, shopping and using kitchen equipment. We had them in three different kitchen locations so they could experience different environments. Not sure if there are some future chefs in this group, but these kids have some great hands on experiences.

We are Having Fun

As you read this, we will e holding our latest cooking class at KAM Appliances in Hyannis.
This one is working on the grills.  Chef Kay Benaroch has come up with some fun and different items – grilling pizza, peaches, pineapple.

We are planning some new classes – so stay tuned and check our web site for the latest classes.
