Request For Proposals: Environment Fund

The Kalamazoo Community Foundation is accepting proposals for projects, activities and programs that align with the Love Where You Live Environment Fund.

This fund holds $26,900 to address environmental justice programs and projects in Kalamazoo County. Environmental justice efforts seek to ensure the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of people in issues that impact health and sustainability of the environment.

Fund Priorities
For the purposes of this RFP, we will prioritize community-driven programs, projects and events that support communities disproportionately impacted by environmental harms and risks such as communities of color, low-income communities, and populations in our community experiencing housing insecurity.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking projects designed to engage, educate, and empower residents to better understand local environmental issues and the changes needed to build a more sustainable, equitable and healthy community.

Now through October 2, we are accepting letters of inquiry for proposals that align with the following priorities:

  • Community-driven projects and activities that advance environmental justice in the greater Kalamazoo area. (i.e. projects addressing issues around clean water, air pollution, food systems, climate change, waste, lead and their intersections with environmental sustainability).

  • Programs and speakers dealing with the above issues.

How to Apply
Interested nonprofits should submit their letter of inquiry online on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 by 5 p.m. Click on the green button below to go to the online letter of inquiry form.
