Happy Fathers Day : To all the families out there I would like to thank all the Fathers for doing the best they can. Just because a man has a child, it doesn’t make him a Father. A Father is special person being a great part of their child’s life.

Did You See?
Ground broke at 80 South Main St., the site of a new state-of-the-art medical facility. Hartford Healthcare and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital plan to relocate and expand CHH Winsted, with a planned opening in Spring 2020, which shall include an emergency department, radiology and mammography services, a LIFE STAR helicopter pad, primary and specialty care, and a sleep center.

The Winsted Senior Center is sponsoring an Aging Mastery Program Beginning June 18 and continuing through July 18. This free workshop encourages mastery of skills that lead to improved health, stronger financial security and overall well being. The program will be held at Winsted Health Center Conference Room at 115 Spencer St. in the lower level. Contact Winsted Senior Center at 860-379-4252 for more information.

June 20 at 6 p.m., join The Winsted United Methodist Church at 630 Main St. for a BBQ Chicken Dinner.
Adults $12 and kids under 12 are $6.
Reservations are advised please call 860-379-6386 or 860-238-7536.  You can eat in, take out, or have delivery in the Winsted area. If you would like to donate non perishable items to our food pantry that would be appreciated!

Saturday, June 22Winchester Center Congregational Church, 1 West Rd., Winchester Center will be having a Baked Potato Dinner, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cost for adults $10 in advance, $12 at the door, children 11-6 years $7 and 5 years and under are free. Dinners sell out quickly, reservations are suggested at 860-379-8900.

June 25, from 5 to 7 p.m., Little Red Barn Brewery will open their doors for “Pitch Night,” an event sponsored by The Entrepreneurial Center of Northwest Connecticut/Northwest Connecticut Community College. Open to the public, this networking event is geared toward folks interested in launching start-up companies and will have business founders and mentors available to function as a sounding board for you to pitch your business plan. June 29, join Pet Grooming by Amie for a rescue dog adoption event at 19 Rowley St. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot.
The dogs are from Rescue Dogs Rock NYC and are currently being fostered here. There will be face painting, raffles and a bake sale! Volunteers are needed as are donations of raffle prizes and baked goods. Winsted Recreation Department has announced 2019 Summer Camp Registration is NOW OPEN! An exciting summer camp experience planned for you! Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. We are now offering extended care with before and after hours. As well as a new sports camp. July 4 at 3 p.m., a "Reading of Declaration of Independence" will take place at Soldiers' Monument, at the Crown Street Memorial and Park.
“When in the Course of human events … We hold these truths to be self-evident …  That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

These words/phrases are among the 1,322 words of the Declaration of Independence signed by 56 representatives of 13 states in 1776.
Now take your turn at reading the words that separated the colonies from Great Britain and began the independence of the United States of America.
Join members of the Soldiers’ Monument Commission in a public reading of the Declaration with members of the community reading various sections.
The monument will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. on July 4.
