Incredible news—moments ago, Women's Caucus Co-Chair, NYC Council Member Margaret Chin introduced a resolution opposing restrictive, discriminatory, so called “sex-selective abortion” bans!
It's because of NAPAWF*NYC members and activists like you that we are raising public awareness and opposition to these bans, deceptively referred to as the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA). PRENDA targets Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women by promoting false, dangerous, and racist stereotypes to push abortion care further out of reach for pregnant women, transgender men and gender nonbinary people.
An individual’s ability to access compassionate, abortion care in a timely manner without interference is a critical component of their health and dignity, freedom, and social and economic equity.
We refuse to allow lawmakers to use AAPI women as political pawns in an attempt to push abortion access out of reach. Thank you to Women’s Caucus Co-Chair Council Member Margaret Chin, along with co-sponsors Rivera, Rosenthal, Adams, and Ayala for standing up for our agency as AAPI women and urge the City Council to adopt this resolution this session.
<<First Name>>, if you didn't get a chance yet, please take one minute to sign our petitionurging the City Council to adopt our resolution! We know that if we organize together and show that there's a groundswell of support against PRENDA, our elected officials will have to proclaim, #NYCagainstPRENDA!
