Did you know that the number of words your child knows when they are 3 can determine how well they do in the Y6 SATS? That the number of words they know at 7 can determine how well they do in their GCSEs and the number of words they know by 11 can determine their income when they leave school!
Quite an interesting bit of research! This is linked to the amount a child is read to at school and of course at home. So, if you want your child to be successful make sure you read to them. The button below links into a talk with Pie Corbett - who is an educational consultant and writing guru. If you start around 16 mins you will hear the facts.

We've just come back from Barton Hall where our children have had a fantastic time challenging themselves on zipwires, canoeing, swimming, navigating sensory trails and other high octain activities! As with our Sparkle day, the aim is to put children into a different environment or doing a new activity and help them to understand the thoughts and feelings they will experience as they either succeed or not. The children who experience activities they are not able to complete are supported and allowed to move on to the next. It's not about giving up - it's about understanding that next time you can go a bit further or do a bit 'better'.
We were very proud of the children who came. Our trips and residentials are being planned for next year and I hope that parents will see the value they represent in terms of the experience a child will have and the challenges they will overcome.
We'll be giving you an idea of the trips your year group will have next year. As you know we have to rely on parental contributions - and while we finalise the costs you are able to save up using ScoPay. If you need help with this you can ask in the office.
