Reform for Illinois Hosts Mayor Lori Lightfoot,
State Senators Melinda Bush and Robert Peters,
WBEZ's Natalie Moore for a Discussion on
"Ethics and Equity in Illinois"

Chicago – Reform for Illinois is holding its annual fundraising luncheon, “Ethics and Equity for Illinois,” on Friday, June 14 from 12-1:30 PM at the Ivy Room in River North. The event will begin with a conversation with Mayor Lori Lightfoot, followed by a panel discussion with State Senators Melinda Bush and Robert Peters. Natalie Moore of WBEZ will moderate.

Mayor Lightfoot has highlighted ethics and equity as key priorities in her administration, pledging to repair “a broken political system that serves only itself” and bring "fairness and inclusion" to Chicago government. We are looking forward to discussing her plans for reform and how they connect to the larger goals of Reform for Illinois.

Senator Bush has represented Illinois’ 31st district since 2013 and is a leading voice in the Senate for ethics reform and gender equity. She has championed legislation changing how sexual harassment complaints are handled in the legislature and instituting new protections for private sector workers experiencing sexual harassment and discrimination.

Senator Peters began his political career as a grassroots organizer and brought his focus on racial and social equity issues to the 13th district in January, 2019. He has passed bills providing for civics education in prisons, ending “pay to stay” requirements for formerly incarcerated individuals, and expanding access to HIV medical care for underage youth.

Natalie Moore covers segregation and inequality as WBEZ’s South Side reporter. She has been recognized for her work by the Radio Television Digital News Association (Edward R. Murrow), Public Radio News Directors Incorporated, National Association of Black Journalists, Illinois Associated Press and Chicago Headline Club. She is a recipient of the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism and was named 2017’s “best journalist” by the Chicago Reader. She is also the author of “The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation.”
