June 13, 2019 - Issue 129
Dear <<First Name>>,

Three years ago yesterday, 49 people were murdered in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Dozens more were injured. Except for the Las Vegas shooting in 2017, it is the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

It pains me even to write that sentence. It means that mass shootings have grown in their deadliness.

In the midst of such tragedy and loss, it is easy to only feel despair and anger and fear.

Yet there is a powerful story of change and hope that grew out of the Pulse nightclub shooting, and it involves the pastor of Joy MCC in Orlando, Rev. Terri Steed-Pierce.  I invite you to see for yourself how she and Joy MCC stepped into a sacred and prophetic space, and opened hearts and minds of people who had until that point been anti-gay.

Ministry Volunteers Needed!

Building Care Team
Our building takes regular cleaning care and we have a couple of slots opening up beginning in July.  If you can donate a few hours a month to clean the building, Bea in the office (or 719-634-3771) can give you the details of when and what is needed.  Many thanks go out to those on the Building Care team for helping to keep our Church clean!

Hospitality Team
Yummy Hospitality is offered twice a month after worship at PPMCC.  The Hospitality team is requesting volunteers to help with clean up after the meal.  Hospitality is also looking for 2 people who would like to join an existing team to help prepare food.  The food prep commitment is once every 2 months; the clean up help can be 1-2x per month or less.   Contact Bea (above) for the details.
