New Exhibition: Book as Narrative Object
FREE Reception: Friday, June 14th, 5 - 7pm

Co-curated by local printmakers Karen Weeks and Rachel Singel

Tomorrow, June 14th (5 - 7pm), join us in celebrating our newest temporary exhibition, Book as Narrative Object. Guest curators -- Karen Weeks and Rachel Singel -- will be in attendance to answer questions and talk about the field of Book Arts. And Farm to Fork will be serving delicious snacks and drinks!

As part of our current Book Arts program, this exhibition explores the structure of a book and how it influences -- and possibly builds upon -- a reader's interpretation of the narrative. Among the items exhibited will be unique artist books on loan from Bridwell Art Library (University of Louisville). The exhibition runs through August.

Expand your child's education this summer, and send them to Portland Museum's Squire Earick House - the oldest, still standing, timber-framed house in Jefferson County!

For the first few days, your child will learn about Portland's social history and historical architecture. The camp will also go on daily trips to the museum's Squire Earick House where students will work with various public history and archaeology professionals to understand what it means to have a historic house in a museum collection. Plus, we will visit a couple local historic house museums!

Overall, campers will learn to research and evaluate sources pertaining to historical culture and explore the 19th century techniques used to create the Squire Earick House.
