Welcome to the June Year One Reading Club 2019 Newsletter
You are receiving this email as you recently had The Hills Shire Library Service visit your students. To keep you up to date, we send out an enewsletter twice a year with information about the club and the library.
The 2019 Year One Reading Club is off to a hopping start with over 550 students participating in the club. This is the 18th year of the club and we are grateful for your continued support and encouraging your students to visit the libraries and join. We hope with our combined efforts, that these budding readers continue to develop a life-long love of learning.
SCHOOL VISITS
Library staff members have visited 21 schools bringing their engaging presentations to excited Year One students across the Shire. Thank you for your feedback about these presentations, we always take it on board and look for new ways to engage the students during these visits.
The club runs until 31 October so there is still plenty of time for children to join. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Shannon Leonard – Programs and Outreach Officer, Castle Hill Library on 9761 4535 or by e-mail to sleonard@thehills.nsw.gov.au
PERPETUAL TROPHY
Each year we present the school with the overall highest participation of students with the perpetual trophy. Last year's winner was St Bernadette's Primary. This trophy is to reward and recognise the achievements of pupils and teachers at the school. This year the winning school is calculated by the number of students at each school who joined the club.

FROGGIE FUN WITH FRIENDS
We're planning a fun event just for children in year one to encourage them to join the club. They're invited to enjoy a fun afternoon of froggie stories, games and craft at the newly renovated library.
If they're already a club member they can bring along a year one friend to receive a special sticker for their reading log!
