The Society Bishops of the Northern Province extend a warm invitation to the rest of the Church to attend the Bread for the World conference. 
 
Bread for the World is a celebration of our Eucharistic life and promises to be an uplifting and inspirational three days as we pray, study and reflect together on the importance of the Eucharist as the source and summit of our Christian life – not forgetting the essential elements of fellowship and fun! 
 
Each day will centre around the Mass and prayer before the Blessed Sacrament during Holy Hour and will include Bible studies and key note addresses. We will make a pilgrimage to both the Cathedrals, starting at the Roman Catholic Cathedral and making our way down to our own Cathedral for Holy Hour and Benediction.  On the Thursday evening there will be a social event with a quiz and comedian (with a free drink on the Bishops!).

The Archbishop of Liverpool -  The Most Rev’d Malcolm McMahon OP
Archbishop McMahon was born and brought up in London. When he left school, he studied mechanical engineering at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. He then worked in the transport industry before joining the Order of Preachers (Dominicans) in 1976. He made his religious profession in 1977, and studied philosophy at Blackfriars, Oxford and theology at Heythrop College, London. He was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal Basil Hume on 26th June 1982. On 7th November 2000, Pope John Paul II appointed him ninth Bishop of Nottingham. He was installed as 9th Archbishop of Liverpool Thursday 1st May 2014. Archbishop McMahon is Chair of the Bishops’ Conference Department of Education and Formation, the Catholic Education Service and the Catholic Trust for England and Wales. He is also National President of Pax Christi, the International Catholic Movement for Peace.
 
Br. Joseph Emmanuel SSF
Brother Joseph trained for the Priesthood at the College of The Resurrection, Mirfield and was ordained to the priesthood in 2003.  He served in parishes in Tottenham and Croydon before joining the Society of St Francis (SSF) in 2010. 
In 2017, Br Joseph Emmanuel made his life profession as a Franciscan Friar.  He lives at the Friary in Alnmouth, where he serves as Novice Master
 
Dr Anne Inman
(leading the Bible Studies) 
Anne Inman, a Catholic Lay Woman who has lectured in Theology at various universities (including St. Mary's, Twickenham; Birkbeck College, London University; University of Notre Dame London Centre; University of Roehampton) before retiring from teaching in 2014. She was Director of Education for Parish Service, London, for four years until 2013. 
 
Her main areas of research have been the philosophy of God, Karl Rahner, the historical Mary, Anselm of Canterbury, and latterly the ministry of women in seventh-century Anglo-Saxon England, as well as sacramental development in the Roman Catholic tradition.  Her book Evidence and Transcendence: Religious Epistemology and the God-World Relationship was published in 2008. Her latest book, Hilda of Whitby and the Ministry of Women in the Anglo-Saxon World will be published in July by Fortress Academic.
