Hey <<First Name>>,

It is #JoyfulJune, but you know what? I didn't do a lot of things that brought me joy this week. I love to work on my novel and read books for leisure. When I am wrapped up in a good book or exploring the characters in my fiction novel, time seems to stop. I breathe more slowly. I feel blissful. I am in my joy zone.

Guess how many times I wrote or read this week? Zero. No days. Not. one. time. I could try to blame it on a busy week with my clients or family responsibilities or trying to juggle too many things at once. If I am being really honest, I had time ya'll.  Not a lot of time, but I had some minutes to spare. And instead of using those minutes to do something that brought me joy, I did things that didn't --->scrolling endlessly on FB and IG; checking email; worrying about my to do list, and so on.

Why do we do this to ourselves? It's a lot of things: Because condition ourselves to believe that joy and play are "wasting time". Because we live in a society that values us being overworked and stressed instead of joyful and blissful. Because we are overwhelmed. Because we are used to moving fast which makes it difficult to slow down.  Because we are scared to work on a project/passion/hobby that doesn't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Because we underestimate a few minutes and think we need more time before we can start or continue our joyful pursuits.

Why do you avoid doing what brings you joy? What projects/passions/hobbies have you put on the backburner that you want to do again? Hit reply and share with me or click here to share.

You are not alone in this. I promise you. Give yourself grace. Love the time you have. Pause. Then, choose to do something that brings you joy. It's that simple. Notice. Release. Do something different. Repeat.

This unbothered journey is a day to day thing, Sis. You might get knocked down. Folks might work your nerve. Keep expressing anyway. Keep going anyway. Keep being unbothered anyway.

Love,

Kandice
