SOIRÉE CARTE BLANCHE : Coprésenté par le Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC) de Mexico et le Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), en collaboration avec la Fonderie Darling, cet événement est conçu par Véronique Leblanc, commissaire invitée au MAC et Alejandra Labastida, conservatrice adjointe au MUAC, Mexico, en complicité avec les artistes.
Cette première soirée Place Publique de la saison réunit huit artistes de la performance, dont quatre sont à Mexico et quatre sont à Montréal. Selon une proposition élaborée par les commissaires Véronique Leblanc et Alejandra Labastida, chacune et chacun des artistes a été invité.e à réactualiser ou à créer une œuvre qui sera performée simultanément par un.e artiste délégué.e dans l’autre ville. Los subrogados I Les substituts interrompt ainsi une économie fondée sur le transit des corps, en offrant une nouvelle façon d’appréhender la présence directe en performance, grâce à un échange et à une confiance mutuelle entre artistes, sans qu’il soit nécessaire de changer de latitude. ________
EVENING CARTE BLANCHE: Co-presented by Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC), Mexico City, and Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC), in collaboration with the Darling Foundry. Conceived by Véronique Leblanc, guest curator at MAC and Alejandra Labastida, assistant curator at MUAC, Mexico, in collaboration with the artists.
This first Place Publique event brings together eight performance artists, four in Mexico City and four in Montréal. Each artist was invited to create or re-create a work that would be performed simultaneously by a delegated artist in the other city. The Surrogates interrupts this economy based on the long-distance movement of bodies by offering a new way to apprehend presence at a live performance, thanks to exchanges and mutual trust among artists, without having to voyage to the other latitude.
