Verse of the Week:
Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
— 1 John 4:11

A small church congregation in rural Ohio met one Sunday evening to share prayer requests and praises with one another. Toward the end of their time together, a woman in her early 30s stood up and nervously sauntered forward.
She shared…
“I want to praise God for my grandmother, who died recently. She’s the one who took me to church when I was young and introduced me to Jesus. She was a source of stability in my life when my parents divorced – a port in my storm.
“Had it not been for my godly grandmother, I shudder to think how my life would have turned out. Even though I have often failed, her example to me has been my beacon and I thank God for her. To me, she was the epitome of Jesus in the earth.”
It’s often easy to underestimate the impact our lives may have on others – but they really do, even when we don’t hear about it or receive credit immediately.
So make it a point to invest in others’ lives – especially younger people. Though they may not tell you at the time, you are making a difference!

Prayer Challenge
Ask God to open your eyes to how you can make a difference in others’ lives.

Questions for Thought
Think about someone who made a real impact in your life. Did you ever tell them the full extent of the difference they made?
Who is someone in your life today in whom you can invest?

Father’s Day, June 16, 2019

Father’s Day in the US is celebrated on the third Sunday of June. Father’s Day – the contribution that fathers made to ensure a good life for their children. The origin of the holiday is a memorial service, which was held for the male fathers who died in the mine in Monong, West Virginia in 1907. This day has become a tradition of celebrating Father’s Day annually. The official date for the celebration of the father’s day is 1972. It was approved by President Nixon.

Humor of the Day

My 80 - year old father wanted to learn how to use a computer. He signed up for a class at the Senior Center, “Computers for the Terrified”.
When he came home I asked, “How was the class?”
He happily replied, “I enjoyed it but I really couldn’t get to grips with my mole.”
I was puzzled at his remark, but finally realized he was talking about the mouse!

My 5 - year old grandson was visiting one day when he asked, “Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?”
I mentally polished my halo while I asked, ”No, how are we alike?”
“You’re both old!”, he replied.
