#9: Former IMG College executive Dyer launches his own ticket sales & attendance firm, Taymar Sales U. Wholly owned by Dyer, already handles ticket sales for Kentucky & will soon do the same at Georgia State. Dyer: "I have spent most of my career creating revenue for college athletic departments and feel strongly that the ticket sales management market needs a new approach. The challenge of ticket sales and attendance in college sports is one of the biggest issues facing athletics departments and the reception to this new model is very positive." (link)
#8: MBB-FBI: The NCAA says at least six athletic departments will receive Notice of Allegations in the coming months. More, "The NCAA continues to investigate potential rules violations stemming from the Southern District of New York allegations and subsequent court proceedings. We are aggressively and thoroughly pursuing information and using all tools available to us through the NCAA infractions process … Colleges and universities have a responsibility to run their athletics programs within NCAA rules. #7: An AD chair opens in the Big East as Seton Hall boss Lyons will slide over to campus leadership as EVP for Operations & Chief of Staff. The transition coincides with the beginning of incoming Prez Nyre's tenure on August 1. Lyons: "I very much look forward to selecting and working with the next athletics director to continue elevating Seton Hall Athletics and providing a first-class experience to its student-athletes." #6: An unnamed Houston Women's Soccer student-athlete tells Click 2 Houston more about workouts that caused rhabdo for some of her teammates, "Others are scared to speak out and I am too, but someone has to. […] I was just so mad and confused because, of course, I was going to keep going 'cause I'm scared, but I'm looking at everyone else and people were crying, barely pushing themselves off the ground." HC Bocanega reportedly said to his team, "'Get up, Get the F up. This is your fault. Get up,' just, like, over and over again. No one was going to say anything. Everyone was so scared." More. (link)

#3: Alabama returns a $21.5M gift from its biggest donor in light of his comments regarding the state's new abortion law. Further, Culverhouse's name has been removed from the law school. (link)
#2: Troy promoted Deputy AD for External Jones to the AD chair after a search that included interviews with six finalists. Chancellor Hawkins on Jones' time with the committee, "He did an exceptional job. The presentation was very, very professional. It laid out facts and figures, it laid out his plan for the first 100 days. There was some very convincing and compelling evidence of his forethought. There was no question but that he knew exactly what he wanted to do – measured against real needs and real objectives that needed to be crafted for this department." Jones: "We’re going to continue to put that plan in place of getting out, meeting people, talking about the vision we have. We’re less than 80 days away from football and soccer and volleyball. We’re going to hit the ground hard, but I’ll tell you this: Our staff is awesome. They are outstanding, the coaching staff as well as administrators. #1: The Seattle Times' Fields goes in on an alleged sexual assault involving former Washington Senior Assoc. AD for External Shick & former Huskies Volleyball student-athlete Strickland while she was still competing for the Huskies. Shick, who also worked in athletics at Texas & other stops, most recently served as a VP at Grand Canyon, but has been fired in the last week. Strickland says Shick offered her a ride home after practice, then proceeded to assault her in his truck. UW reached a $20K settlement with Strickland on the condition she not file any claims against the university. Huskies AD Cohen: "Throughout the entirety of this situation, our top priority was the well-being of the student, protecting them and adhering to their wishes." Lots more. (link)
